Default Saxo vts

i've currently got a bmw 318 is on a N plate basically it needs a good polish to revive the paint it has sat for 2 months no mot or tax soi mentioned at work i was thinking of selling it as i can never see me bothering to tax and test it the next thing i know i get a phone call from my mate paul saying his lad wants it but has no money so would i swap it for a saxo vts on a W plate it's black seems straight enough no rust that is apparent on the quick look i've had in the passing so i said i'd consider it. Bonus is it has tax and test

What is the genral opinion on these cars i can't say i'm a fan but is it an easy car to sell on and what kind of price for a clean standard looking example would i expect to get?

i've no pics at the min but cheers for any advice in advance

N reg 3 series with no tax and test is only worth half a Mars bar so you might as well and then punt the Saxo on

if you got the saxo, you might wanna keep it! they are seriously good fun to drive (when going)

make sure to check:

power steering pump
rear chassis legs
front end damage
make sure on idle it doesnt fluxuate
check ball joints, drop links and rear axle play
also the electrics can be funny on them too ie. bad earth, relays go, fuses go etc!
make sure if its W reg, that to clocks arent broke..mk2s are prone to the digi dash failing
and also check for knocking at the front end..could be suspension tops!

need anything else, let me know...

i have had 7 x saxos (4 x vts', 3 x vtr's) and a 106 gti....sorta know them inside out haha

Value anything from Ł800 through Ł1800 dependant on condition, i have one myself w reg amazon green vts, for the price theres not really anything else that will put a grin on your face. reasonably quick good handling ( lift off oversteer ). think most of the bad points have been covered.

The vts models are pretty quick cars, and handle ok, but everyone will think you are a boy racer.

Well i went to see the saxo there wasn't a blemish on it was mint looking the guy that had it was 22 couldn't afford to insure it and works as a valeter so it was immaculate inside and out. it's had alot of sensors changed as the guy steam cleaned the engine and it wouldn't idle so him and his dad kept guessing which sensor it could be then it went to the auto electricians.

So i've ended up with a black W reg vts i'm picking it up tomorrow as he is changing a tyre on it before i get it so i'm gonna bang a fresh mot on it and put it up for sale and see what happens so i'm pretty happy with the deal facebook is good for something after all lol

You got a blinding deal, was a tidy enough looking Bimma but the Saxo will be way easier to sell and looks to be a fantastic little car from the photo/description.

Good deal! Just don't do what we usually do when we end up with them...

"Get it, NOT DRIVE IT in case it breaks, and whack it up for sale..."

Couple of days later its being driven, unsure of whether it should be sold, and the gearbox ends up eating itself. All fun and games and they're just too addictive, if I had the time/space/money I'd make sure I ALWAYS had a sorted little Saxo or 106 GTi in my possession regardless of what other 'better' cars I had!

I have to admit a saxo has never been a car i have ever desired or wanted to own so it will be interesting to see what i make of it. I just thought it was a good deal and put it on here half expecting to get slagged or told not to do it there shit if i'm honest so i'm quite suprised lol

I had a 52 plate vts a few years ago as a run about till be corsa turbo was built, 1 owner full citroen histroy ect and loved it, should have never have sold that car. They feel like a go-cart and pretty nippy also, my friend had a valver corsa and it kept up with that up too about 100 odds but then again that engine probably hadnt been rebuilt in its life so would have been down alot on the quoted 150

The plan was to sell the car and buy a van but got offered the swap there is a few niggles with the BM window motor packed in paint flat etc and i aint used it or bothered to polish it with that and no mot or tax i think the saxo will be easier to shift and possibly a bit more cash in it plus it is 4 and a half year newer than the bm
