The last part of this has to be the worst excuse i have ever seen, a cop out big style. I can agree about the high financial costs involved but to blame it on the internet people, thats just stupid.

Im sure totb could be better organised, however thats not this discussion. Apparently scoobies get slated for not being big power etc. and having chocolate engines but they go to totb and drag strips and run.

Rocket Ronnie doesnt have the biggest bhp and he has won the first 2 (dont know about 3rd) he made a car that was good at handling, good at sprint and top speed.

And to anyone that does enter, fairplay to you for having a go.

You won't see Martin Hadland entering either, or Porkie!
dont be so sure!.... if my car is ready i could well be in!

tease would be nice to see

So all that "its the taking part that counts " is absoloute bollox.
If i had a car capable of entering i would want to have a chance of being up there,to be honest i wouldnt enter otherwise.
People do track days and drag for there own satisfaction (no pressure ) TOTB is a diferent kettle of fish, people expect results from there marque.imo this is why some top cars are not bothered, they do it for them selves

we will put actual event details on the totb forum threads, but we are planning grandstand seating if we can get approval, better pa, marshalling, toilets , catering etc. There will be a viewing area also into the handling cct to bring it closer for spectating. Date is 31st July , which doesnt clash with ford fair this year.

we have also agreed that "The Organisation" who run JAE Billing will be looking after club camping and trade displays on our behalf. this will that mean that clubs/groups will have their own show/camping areas for the sat night on site. It wont be like USC campsite at night tho, for anyone hoping for some midnight mayhem or driving round site

Err, the CRD Supra has ran a 9sec 1/4mile and over 200mph within 1.25miles. Youve not even ran a 10sec 1/4

Interesting to read peoples thoughts on this. But for those saying it costs £xxxx to get to the start lne at TOTB, I think they are rather exaggerated costs.
If you car is indeed a road car, it would be driving and not need a full spares package, a trailer, and mechanics to get it there and back.
I went 2 years running, travelled further than most, and it still didnt cost the £2.5k or more, and I drove there and back each time, uncluding several hundred miles to other places while I was over in England.

It has been said a few times on various forums, that a road car should be driven to and from the event, NO trailers, pump fuel, road tyres, and many also say, it should have full trim ( ie if it left the factory with 4 seats, it should still have them )
I didnt see too many Cossies there last year, but those I did see, arrived and left on trailers, and looked anything but road cars.

That applies across the board. Too many cars with super soft tyres, race fuel, stripped out interiors, some with plastic windows, arriving and leaving on trailers.

Is that how people enjoy their road cars ?? Do they tow them around the roads on trailers ?? weird.

TOTB has turned from an enthusiasts event, into a commercial tuners/racers scene. I didnt compete last year, as my car blew up in June in the IOM, and wasnt worth repairing, just for TOTB, as I had different engine plans anyway.

I wont be entering this year, because its not about road cars anymore. I know I would never win it anyway, but if the competitor list was real road cars, I would enter for sure. But at £80 I do feel it is good enough value. Its a good venue, and there are 3 events to try, all with good track time on each, as entries are limited to around 120 cars.
On a big day at Santa Pod, you could be queuing for hours to get a handful of runs.

As for the rwd entries, no doubt Calder will be there with their Supra again, which is proven to be very fast ( althought using Mickey Thompson ET's arent quite road tyres even if they are DOT approved ).
Team Viper will be one to watch, as there will be a couple of very fast ones. One with over 900bhp at the wheels, and it is a road car in every respect.

But each car will perform differently in each discipline. They Skylines didnt rule last year IMO. Dont think the Supras did too hot either.
RC Dev's Evo may have done 1 or 2 good 1/4 times, but seeing as it blew up, what use is that ? ( and on god knows what fuel mix )

Bring it back to a true road car event, and I'd love to take part. The US huys have a series and I think CCC did somehting similar. Pump gas Drags.
The entrants arrive at track day before main race. Most fuel is drained, and cars then drive to a filling station, and fuel up a minimum amount. They then have to complete at least 30 mile drive alonmg a chosen and monitored route. Any who fail to complete the drive, are out.
Then they park up, and race the next day.

No probs Dave, although with 500+ bhp and Ohlins full coil over suspension it's gonna be a bit quicker

TOTB for me will be about scoring points for the MLR team, I dont have the gearing to go over 175. But handling should be fun. Expect low 11's on the 1/4

If any feel that their cars are suitable, then there has been a thread on PF since last year .

https://passionford.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=61975

If you feel that you have a suitable car, then put your name down . Qualifying will be in June and Steve Scott should also be there this year in his mental Fiesta, so we should do quite well if JUST Martin and Steve turned up... . However, I would like to see some other cars.

As to the sponsorship thing, the kudos / publicity that the tuners of the top cars get is worth quite a bit more than the £80 entry fee, so I would be trying to get this paid for by the tuners of the individual's cars !

I dont think so TBH....if they break down which is likely that is very BAD advertising....you got to enter knowing you can beat the OTHER Cossie tuners...thats when you get the Kudos!!!...But only one tuner is willing to put his rep on the line...and he must be MAD
