Default How to stop a dash from splitting more

Hello,

This is for a XR4i.

So i got a dash from eBay and got told it has one crack but its has 4.

I was wondering how can i stop these from splitting more, do i put some kind of glue in them?

I know to cover it from the sun (so ive been told) but is there anything more?

Ive got the pen off and the tape so its looking good so far! Well better than the other one my dad has here.

Many Thanks Eigdoog.

theres a thread on seriesone turbo.co.uk about how to repair a mk3 escort dash. i assume they are the same. looks like you have to cut down to the depth of the crack to stop it properly.then reapir with some sort of resin, then paint..will try and find the thread for you

I had a S1 dash repaired, it wasn't cheap and it wasn't a covering to prevent any future cracks - unfortunatly for mk3 owners their isn't really an alternative but for a Sierra i would just simply replace with a Sapphire dash.

I had an uncracked dash in mine 2 years ago and now it's got a few here and there and thats with it sat in the garage most of the time, they just aren't designed to last this many years

Thanks everyone!

Would drilling a hole and putting filler in it really help? Also i guess the whole dash would have to have a spray up to be the same.

As for using a saph dash my dad wants the speaker in his to look right.

yes it would stop the thing looking crap which sadly to say is exactly how it looks now. you have 2 options as i see it,1/ flock, 2/ repair the cracks and spray it. i supose 3 could be remanufacture but thats gonna cost $$$'s dude
