ive got 215/40 17 on my 8.5j's and they are stretched and look the tits, so with 8j i would say this would be the best size and no smaller...

my fronts are 7.5j and have 205/40 17 and are perfect

Mine asre the same size tyres - the rears are stretch but the problem with 17" is you can't get a 225 in 40 profile so you would have to go for a 45 which isn't ideal or jump to a 235/40 which is what i might have to fit to mine, some how

Iv been told about these sizes

i choose 225/35/17 falken on the front and 245/35/17 falken on the rear....iv not had to trim the front arces but the rears iv had to take the lip all the way of to get them to fit but i am running 20mm spaces on the back an 17mm on the front i needed to do this to clear the brembos on the front..i think the wide stace suits the 3dr tho

And this is the car they are on wot do you think

Typical, they have decent sizes in 35, but i won't fancy running my splits on them as they are soft alloys

i was just about to say about them i would only run the size spacers that would be needed to clear the brake so i think that would solve that problem i hope

You will not get a 235 tyre under the front arches mate.

The package you have linked with the 215 tyres should be ok as like I said to you there really is not as much room in the arches as people think.
