Does seem hefty but insurance has gone up quite a bit. Last year I paid £350 for my modified Audi A4, this year the renewal was £700+ . After loads of faffing I got it back down to £400. That's with 7 years+ no claims

I think there is something going on with the prices at the moment, my renewal is up next month and they want £400 more than last year,
I'm 33 with a 2002 330 last year i paid 400 this year its 800 odd,
I tried shopping about and its mostly over 1k everywhere else.. I have 6 years ncb too and live in in Devon so god knows what thats about

Blame the snow we had and the fact that the insurers aren't actually making money at the moment. Add that to all the fucknuts that insist on claiming whiplash for the most minor of all bumps and you get sky high premiums for everybody

My insurance has stayed the same this year at £1200 at 30, 4 NCB, loads of points coming off this year, worst post code, puma cossie insured for 25k agreed.
I guess the extra years NCB, further from points, age increase discounts have offset the rise in premiums.
I wonder when the crazy rises will stop??? It just isnt sustainable to have over 30% rise in premiums every year.
I wonder if i will ever get my premium below £1k. Makes you want to cry sometimes when you hear people similar age etc insuring similar value cossie for like £500 or something daft. Makes me wonder if i can ever reduce the risk profile on me down to a low level.
I wonder how much my insurance would drop going from a shit location to a good one? does that really make a difference?

My insurance came down this year but I did turn 25. Then 6 weeks later took out an Admiral multi-car policy with dad and reduced it a little more, his has a little more than expected but it was still a saving in the end.
Im paying £539 @ 25 y.o with a clean licence in a good postcode on Multi-car policy & 7 years NCB (protected).

try this for size:
i'm 38, 11 yrs+ NCB( protected), drive a 2002 1.6 Focus Chic special edition. Live in Manchester. insurance is renewed in December each year.
In December 2009, my renewal was £500 ish. (clean licence)
in June 2010, I was caught doing 35 in a 30 by a sneaky mobile speed camera van. so got 3 point on my licence (first time ever)
went to renew my insurance in December 2010 with my broker (swinton insurance) and told them about the 3 points on my licence.
The cheapest they could get me was £800, because the insurer they use MMA had said providing there were no changes in details at renewal then premiums would only increase by 10% (making a £500 policy £550)
obviously getting point was a 'change' so those 3 points cost me an extra £300 per year on this years policy.
Basically, they pulled my pants down and bent me over! fuckers!
seriously need to shop around this year £800 per year for a 1.6 Focus. its a joke!
