possibly, "useable" 2wd saffs are getting like chickens teeth

you MUST view one before commiting to buying one from auction sites etc

Nice car you've got there, but i bet you didn't buy it recently..

Prices of Saffs have skyrocketed of late, whether it's a shitter or a minter.

That black one looks mint. What a bargain. People keep breaking saffs so the prices will just keep going up.

Funny,I couldn't get a sniff on my 4x4 at Ł4000 needing putting back together, paints done, engine rebuilt and it comes with a Luton full of spares!!!!when it comes to the crunch people aren't out there paying Ł8000 for a saff unless it's exceptional, plenty round at Ł4k but as posted above your better off spending more to start with on a clean/modded one as it will cost you more to get it to that standard which was the whole point I made about mine,Ł3k for a nail,Ł1500 to paint,Ł500 to sort an interior and Ł1500 plus to rebuild an engine so getting on for Ł6-7000 put right.
Mine had all that done but needed finishing and I was told it was worth fuck all so keep looking fella, they do turn up cheap from time to team needing little work.
There's a cat d one for Ł5000 in the for sale section now, looks gorgeous and the bargain of the year was just sold for Ł3000 with ap brakes and 18's.

I don't think your get a decent one for 4k. You will get one that may need a bit body work welding etc or many be nice body but tied engine.

I bought mine 3yrs ago for 4k engine was mint(rebuilt by car wise) but needed some paint work a bit of welding and new front and rear brakes.

finding one that is completly rust free is almost impossible to know as one of the most common places they rust is on the transmission tunnel which you will only ever see if you take the carpet out.

A mate of mine just bought a mint magenta one body is really tidy but engine needs a re build for 3.2k.

another one of my mates bought big erns flint grey saff for 4.8k nice engine loads of goodies but need a bit bodywork.

so they are out there for 4k but it's gonna need work to make a decent one imo.

I got a 4x4 one for 3k that needs work doing to it, then again i wanted one that needed a little work. I dont think your find a decent one for 4k then again you might find an old man who needs a quick sale for 500 notes.

bought it last year for Ł3350. sold it a few months ago for Ł4500. i have a silver 4x4 now that mint & didnt give much for that. that will be for sale soon as well.
the one that paul @ north yorks is currently breaking in the parts for sale room was recently for sale on here for Ł3k. looking at the pics it really didnt need much time or money to make it a good one. i would have had it for if i was a bit quicker. i see that he will sell complete for Ł3800 which is still a good price & that got 330mm ap's on it!!!! it wouldnt suprise me if he would do a deal with all the relevent parts to convert it to 2wd

depends what your looking for i wanted a low miles full service history car
that hadnt been welded and found one for 6750 on a h plate.
that one on ebay is probabley okay but far from mint for that sort of money
4k gets you a cossie thats had 15 owners and 3 resprays and god knows how many engine builds in 20yrs

your all talking out your arse, if u paid 5 6k for a near standard saph then your a mug. All u gotta do is just look for a cossie that doesn't belong to a club or like passionford's like i said, mine was just over 3k had 70k on the clock body work stunning. Just avoid piston heads and forums and you'l easily find a cheap one. People are just assume as a saph for sale isn't well know its going to be a shed but there are bargains out there mate, just keep looking

Haha thats the clever bit, i would sell for 6.5k but the thing is someone WOULD buy it for that on piston heads etc etc. The trick is to buy your saph from say autotrader become known on here and sell it for nearly double. Job done lol imho cossies are fucking amazing, i love mine more than the wife but they are over priced for what they are, and if it wasn't for enthusiast websites all standardish saph's would be worth 4k tops. But im not complaining as a cosworth is one of the only cars thats gains valve now and we have the enthusiast websites to thank for that. So thanks lol

I think you will get a reasonable one for 4k if your look about. IMO, you need to be handy with a toolset to keep the costs down on cosworth ownership. If not, your probably better spending a few quid more on a one thats had all the hard work done, engine refresh etc.

so the answers still no then

as you want Ł6.5k for yours

maybe early last year you had a chance of picking up a cheap saff

but everybody has the internet now and see good ones selling at good money and automatically think theres is worth that , dont get me wrong there maybe are a few bargains but not many and bet they need fortunes spent on them so they are,nt really a bargain

That bargain of the year you talk about i bought , it was a complete pile of shit and i paid to much for it at 3k

the description was a fucking joke , the seller was lucky i was in a rush and just drove it on the trailor because if i had bothered to look round it i would have told him where to go

As for people saying saffs are going up in price , sorry but i dont agree

People may be asking more for them these days but i buy and sell them every day and i arnt paying anymore or selling for anymore than 2 years ago

People just think there worth more ,but look on PH etc there not selling and if they are it isnt for the asking price

I cant be arsed to look but if you do a serch on here i sold a very very nice white 2wd saff a few months ago for 3.5k , needed nothing doing and was ready to go
