but i think that's the thing that most people forget, he's been there, done that, got the t-shirt and more than likely paved the way for loads of mods that people now take for granted AND he's still in the game even though he's too old and too short

i don't think he bangs on about his speeds anywhere near as much as he should, the second that anyone gets close to the 200 mph speed in any car it's all over the internet that their car is nearly as fast as rod's/martin and yet martin doesn't get even a tiny % of the flack rod gets

i'm sure rod's answered this before but the actual weight being accelerated doesnt' really limit the top speed by that much, but i can't explain the technicalities of it the way it was done in the thread a few years ago when it was explained properly

It affects acceleration though so surely makes a difference to top speed too?

in rods case, it will make a difference as he only has a finite distance to accelerate his car until he has to break.

I used to thinK Rod was a right burke but i met him at central day this year and i can say he is a very nice man. I was talking to him for a while then walk past his car then i met him again and he kindly showed me round his car. Top bloke rod.

Here is the equation for top speed. As you can see, mass has nothing to do with it. As stated though as Rod only has a short distance to accelerate over, it might affect his speed over that distance by possibly 1 or 2mph at a guess.
