Are 18's too big for MK2 Mondeo?
I purchased some second hand 17" alloys with immaculate tyres off ebay for my runabout ST24 as i really do dislike the turbines and there truck tyres, the alloys i have purchased are 17 inch by 7.5 inch wide, fitted with 205/40/17 tyres, i have fitted them on the back at the minute (rain stopped play) and they still look a little small, so i know the fronts will look even more strange with being standard height suspension, i know a guy selling a set of Focus RS MK1 18" alloys, thing being he doesnt have a clue what theyre off or worth so i was thinking of snapping them up and selling my 17s on? I just wanted to know if i was better off with the 17s or 18s? obviously 18's will fill the arch gap more, considerably of that on the front, but will it handle better on 17s or?
Thanks
Thanks

18's fit on the Mk2, but I found they usually drop down to 35 profile tyres which even on the standard suspension makes the ride and tyre wear uncomfortable. Depends what the roads are like round your way, but on average I was damaging an 18 once every 3 months.!!!
Now I'm on 17's and 40 profile I haven't damaged a tyre since
Save your money, and drop it on the suspension a bit

My coog runs 215-40-18 which is the same suspention and underbody as yours runs fine and the roads and lanes my way are full of pots just got to stay out of the big ones.

My old mondy(mk1) has 17's, I know what you mean about looking a bit lost/small, but I kept to 17's due to a bit more protection for the rims from a higher profile, up to you really at the end of the day, I love the mk1 frs alloys, if they did them in 17's I'd have them like a shot, but just fitted my new 17's on the cossie, I went for a 45 profile for rim protection as on coilys, needs some serious consideration these days, rim protection with the state of our roads.

The 17s ive got are pug rims, the centre bore is larger than the ford bore, so they fit but the centre hole is slightly too big, ive got them on, bolted up, but the steerings a bit shaky so ive not driven it as i dont have the spigot ring things to make the centre bore smaller to ford fitment. would that cause the shaking? does it at anythin about 30 - 40mph feels like one of the tyres is flat lol

I am making my own at the moment, as can't find the vaux 56.6 to 70mm rings anywhere, I need these to go between disc and hub, as putting my 288mm vectra b brake kit on the astra that has "small hubs", just bought a delrin off cut of 80mm to make them.

Nope doesnt catch the arches, looks fine other than a little high, maybe just needs lowerin a little, not sure. Don't know if i can be bothered with it anymore as after abusing it yesterday its making some annoying ticking sound at low revs from the front of the engine.
