What car to get?
Seen as some pillock pulled out in front of me a few weeks ago, my poor old Fizza will most likely get written off
Question is, what to get next? I've thought about a mk1/2 fiesta, but is it wise these days, with the lack of air bags, no power steering etc etc? Or would I be better off getting another mk4 or maybe a mk6?

Oh forgot to mention I've only got 1 years no claims so anything "xr" is a no no.
I've got enough for a mk6, but I'd love a mk2 slammed in the weeds just to tot about in.
But then again I've seen some nice mk6's on their arse'

I'm also only 18, I've got a quote on a xr2i for like 5 and a half!
Haven't tried just an xr2 though, I imagine it will still be expensive

Something cheap and easy to insure. You need some no claims and even a non fault crash will count against you. Forget anythin DE badges for another year at least.
Dropping an XR2 engine into a normal mk2 is likely to cost more to insure than just buying an XR2

I'll be the only one to recomend a mk4 then, a 1.25 should be nippy enough to have fun with, you can pick them up dirt
cheap, and they look really nice with a few mods (rs2000 wheels look really good on them IMO), plus you'll have an airbag.

MK5 zs is a barrel of laughs its just like a go kart and not that much to insure (around Ł1k)
or XR's are shit heaps more from my quotes (18y/o 1yncb 1 year driving)

I've definitely thought about another mk4 with the 1.25 again, they are pretty pokey and rev well with a uprated filter.
Haha, and what do you class as fun bags?

Boobs with the way other threads go on this forum, the car depends on your budget really, but I'm biassed for the mk4 (someone has to be).

I too like the mk4, seems to get forgotten about!
Weren't the vans only like 1.6's and 1.8's?

Mk4 with the 1.25cc Yamaha derived motor in is a little stonker. Not hugely powerful but not bad at all for what it is and quite up to giving a novice driver a bit of fun
