Default choosing boost hose size

i'm building a zetec turbo engine and all that will be built in the next couple of weeks, i'm aiming for around 400bhp, but not sure what boost pipe size to go for.
i was thinking 2" as compressor outlet is 2" and intercooler fittings are 2" also.
intercooler may need to chage for a bigger one so that could change in time.
but is there any reason to use 2.5" boost pipes instead to help flow or will the bottle neck of 2" be the restriction and bigger pipes increase lag too much for the potential flow gain?

cheers for any useful tips on this subject.
