hello! iv just bought an orange mk2 escort 4-door, its a bit ratty but i just got a fresh ticket on it and the old cros-slow lump decided to let go! So im stuck debating best options for it, as im right in the middle of an audi-V8-into capri conversion and shell rebuild i only bought the escort so id have a cool ford to smoke about in for the summer.. as such i am pretty much skint so cant do the any of the usual zetec or high-spec pinto jobbies, i just want to get it back on the road ASAP but still why not make the most of the situation! :P

So: i COULD get another head for my crossflow... or i have a (very) mildly tuned pinto lying around, which if anyone has an exhaust & manifold they want to sell me im sure i could chuck in with a bit of sump-chopping and my welder... or i have a complete 2.8 with a 3.0 carb and some pretty chrome rocker covers and a 160bhp dyno printout , V6 gearbox and full twin ashley system for it all doing nothing in the garage. The escort already has a type 9 fitted so i imagine the gearbox will go straight in on my propshaft, the only doubts i have are A) what engine mounts, will it fit on my standard crossmember? and B) will it handle like a piece of shit?? I guess i'd need to find some capri front legs. Does anyone know of anyone whos done this, opinions please remember on this one BUDGET laughs is king

i'd have a look on turbosport mate... there are a couple on there that i can think of, including one very nice mk1..

The mans a bit of a v6 legend when it comes to mk1 + 2 transplants and a really nice guy too.
He runs a famous yellow mk1 with a 3.1 essex.
