the answer is no , no tax and your liable , you could be lucky , but i'd tax it or trailer it back if not, as its sods law you'd get pulled or filmed on the tax disc camera

Is there a post office close to where you will be picking it up? Just get the insurance to fax a copy of the certificate to you and take the bits and pieces to the post office

In theory, yes,if you listen to some people on here you`ll be hung drawn and quartered!!!!
Why not tax it for 6 months then claim it back as soon as you get home,ok,you lose a month but its all legal then?
youd have to get a right prick off a copper to get done and your car taken but with anpr etc sometimes their hands are tied.

damn i'd just drive it
plod gives you a pull and you tell em get off my case, im on way home and have got insurance- go get some robbers
i dont think a copper would be so petty as to ticket you for day or 2 out tx when you have a recipt for buying and insurance and mot, you can tax on the way home which you would be doing huh
i have always seen tax as a formality tho, ill get it when im ready lo, i dont dick about but a round disc of paper in my window on the way home matters very little

book into an m.o.t station ,doesnt matter if its moted or not , its the only time you can legaly drive with no tax unless covered by trade plates/ins
but that being said i have been stopped with no tax but all other credentials intact and was told id be reported to dvla for no tax and was sent on my way, recieved an 80 pound fine for the pleasure.

i think it now comes down to coppers descretion , but under the circumstances with everything else in line and a receipt of sale dated and signed by previous owner there would be a problem.

Depends if its a bait looking car and how far youve got to drive it. Id drive it, but im a cunt like that, aslong as it was MOT'd , insured, and youve got a licence, i think tax is the minor offence out of the, i drove mine for 6 days out because i couldnt find the logbook. through towns and cities, nothing even became of it.

driving with no tax only gets you an £80 fine mate. DVLA wont prosecute until its
over 1 month out of date. i was told that by a local traffic warden the other week.
