Someone hit my uninsured car
I put this in the insurance section but thought i might as well stick it in here too.
Right, heres the deal. My little project car is sitting in a private car park, in my private space which comes with the flat i own. It is taxed and MOT'd but obviously as its not currently on the road it is not insured. Last night the **** who parks in the space next to hit swung his car in a bit hot and smashed the front light and scraped all down the wing and bumper. Not a huge amount of damage, and he knocked on my door all apologetic and offered to pay for it, but assuming he wants to go through his insurance, would the fact that the car isn't insured be a problem?

Perfecto. Just wasn't too sure as ive only ever known claims where the insurance companies deal with each other on behalf on both parties.
But thats great, thanks mate.

Sound advice tabetha mate. I'll defo try and do that I think. I mean I'm assuming the car park is classed as private land, will look into that but either way I think your way is the best!

agree with above if its private land insurers won't want to know
but make sure it is private land as if not then you could be ok
just because it comes with flat doesn't make it private land it could be that it was
once private land then sold back to council so utililies could access the buildings

how much are the repairs, IF you are fair and the repairs are done on the cheap then they guy may well pay out rather than loose his ncd.
Easier all round that way, but if you get greedy he may tell you to jog on, especially if he gets wind you dont have insurance, he may see what you do.

I'm not sure yet mate, I'm going to get two quotes for it this weekend and see whats what. When I present him with the quotes and then MY quote for doing it myself I won't try and completely rip him off obviously, but at the same time its a bloody inconvenience for me doing all this so ill want a few quid for having to do the work and all the grief! Say its 300, ill offer to do it for half or something. i think that's more than fair.
Thanks for everyone's help.
