I really am not far away from sacking the car altogether.
Insurance renewal is end of this month and that has gone up drastically this time as well...

Most fuel is up around £1.40 per litre here.
Seen diesel at 143.9 today, cheapest was £1.31.9

Although you lads think you are hard done by on fuel prices its still not as high as the fuel crisis in 1974. Back then fuel rose to 50p a gallon & the average wage was £1940 a year. This equates to £6.44 a gallon or 1.43 litre. We were not in hard times then so i fear fuel will become much more expensive. The problem you guys cant get your head around is that fuel has been relatively cheap for 30years & the good days are over.

if you removed what the goverment are taking per litre then it would not be a problem if it went up abit as it is what it is but coz they take so dame much all the time you can understand why people are upset by it all. And the fact that libyas fuel is only about 2 percent of our demands proves that fuel prices are being bumped up by fat cats that see it as a cash cow and the goverment could stop this if they wanted but they dont. And the thing is is that all your food bill and so on will go up to coz of fuel even tho tescos and sainburys and so on make shed loads each year but your wages dont go up in relation to this . The rich get richer . There are things that could be done be people wont and others just cant afford to .and even if someone made a car run on sea water then they would be brought out or dun over just so the oil barons and goverments make more cash and dont lose out.

Insurance has gone up £200 a year for me plus the price of fuel now soaring, thats why Im binning the ST and getting my third Puma. I still want to have a fun car but on a budget.

As that's where we're getting screwed compared to a lot of other countries. And I've not seen any sign that they're going to cancel the planned duty increase next month. With the massive price increases, I think they've probably made the extra money already, so cancelling the increase would gain them some much needed PR points and give people a bit of a break!

I am already only using the car strictly for work, no pleasure mileage at all.
£60 a week in fuel.

Some people ain't even been driving half that! Only had my licence coming up 4 years. What about the poor people turning 17 and getting their first car? Petrol is a joke and insurance might as well forget it. I'm thinking of doing a CBT and getting a 50cc for circa 10-15mile radius of my house. Fuck driving ain't worth it don't even enjoy the fucking thing no more and it's only a 1.8!

My 1st insurance premium was £750, back then my wages were £5,250 per year, so my insurance premium alone was 14% of my gross wage.
if the average 17 yr old is being quoted £2,500 per year for insurance, then at 14% of wages that equates to £17,800 wage per year.
So i think in relative terms insurance costs are equally as rip off now as they were then.
I think if everyone had the bollocks to do so, there should be a 'fuel protest' day.
lets all, just for the sake of it, buy no fuel at all, leave the cars at home, use public transport.
the whole public transport network would grind to a halt with the sheer amount of people using it as it doesn't have the capacity to cater for everyone.
no money taken by the fuel companies from private motorists
it'll illustrate just how important the car and car usage is to everything!

The problem is that not enough people in the country have the balls to do this fuel protest and thats pretty much the death nail for it straight away.
If you remember years back the country was grinding to a halt with the blockades but people started monaing about the shortage of fuel and so the protest was finished.
No matter how many people want to protest there will always be the same amount of peopl who dont give a toss but will certainly moan about the price.

just thought the best two days to do any thing on would be the day before and the day during the royal wedding blocking london in and out with slow moving cars and trucks stopping the guests getting there then the goverment would take notice as the could not be seen to be spoiling the wedding. That would make there arse holes go
