pinto turbo?

Anyone ever thought about getting a pinto to over 30 using L6, stage 3 chip, greens, t3/t4, cossie pistons and rods, custom manifold?

cheap drift slag possiblity?

Cosworth Lad 13-03-2011 07:55 AM

I have but cant find a decent manifold but if i ever did turbo my pinto.Im not going to run stupid boost just on low boost std engine maybe a t25.Thats maybe in the future if i can get hold of the bits lol.

i have some pinto sapres if anyone wants them

Dlatch! 13-03-2011 12:38 PM

had a very enjoyable run up the A1 years ago in a pinto turbo rs2000 it went very well indeed

the chap on turbosport is doing a great job too, the biggest issue is sorting a exhaust manifold to suit the turbo but imo the rest of the parts are either cosworth parts or oe injection pinto
if i was going to build one it would have to be EFI

crumpet 13-03-2011 03:08 PM

can buy exhaust manifold kits to do yourself for the pinto, so that aint a problem, to4e turbo with an external gate at 22 psi would be awesome!

v man 13-03-2011 06:33 PM

dont bother mate

i had a mk2 rs2000
with an original tt converted pinto turbo set up

was shit mate

best of using a zetec or st170 engine

the pinto kept destroying bottom ends with only 4 psi

i would use a cossie bottom end if you did go ahead with it

tabetha 13-03-2011 07:36 PM

Manifolds easy to make.

crumpet 13-03-2011 08:54 PM

cosworth 4x4 pistons and rods, group a gasket lol

thebronze 13-03-2011 09:00 PM

Do You guys consider the 2.3 lima to be a "pinto"??

Sammy @ GS Escorts has built a lovely Pinto turbo. Cossie pistons, homemade manifold, EFi inlet and FRST management.

Cosworth Lad 14-03-2011 10:24 PM

used to go hamshall but had enough or shall i say grawn out of it besides you get to many dickheads with corsas and saxos with no insurance.evo 3 hey i think a 330 ish bhp cossie is more usable around town and decent for track. But i hate the japcrap what colour is the evo?

crumpet 14-03-2011 10:33 PM

evo's black, stripped out track slag, I used to go hams but its all shit, local lads still go down the a38 which i find pointless, you might now a lad called adil kahn? goes by the name of dilo, used to have a silver 4x4 cos on escos 8j wheels, his bro is one of the biggest car dealers in birmingham and has a yellow diablo

crumpet 14-03-2011 10:56 PM

just outside small heath and silver saph was stage 3

jameswrx 14-03-2011 11:00 PM

I had one (13 years ago) pretty sure the exhaust manifold was turbo technics. The fuelling was via a renault solex turbo carb (yes r5 gtt) obviously re-jetted. The guy that did mine did loads of conversions like this and made some really rapid conversions.
