mondeo v6 ghia 2002 model
any common issues with this engine? presume its a 2.5 v6,been offered one today and going to have a look tomorrow.
just wondering if there is anything to check/look for as ive never been near one!

My mate has one with big miles on it and its quite sound from what he says - I can't remember him mentioning anything in particular when I looked at one...
The wheels corode really badly though... other than that its a mondeo.

The usual suspects on these are:
1) waterpump, should have the later type on but worth changing to a metal one.
2) rear subframe bushes
3) coilpack
4) corrosion of the wheels
5) corrosion in the lower of the front doors weld.
Apart from that they are a solid car.

You won't have any issues with the waterpump on an 02 car, it was only the early Mk2s that had brittle blades.
As has been said rear bushes fail and are a costly job to sort.
They're also VERY juicy, so if it's going to be a daily driver I'd be wary.
