views on a free xr3i 93 130bhp!
hi there.
today a customer im fitting a kitchen for was goin to scrap his dark blue l reg xr3i cabriolat. the son who had it had a crash in it but only smashed the front right light and the corner of the pumper. the son lost his licence due to other reasons so hasnt been driving for a year and a half. the dad bought the car when it was 6 months old and was almost brand new. its got full service history and the dad really looked after it, it was his pride and joy until his son crashed it. the dad has a ford focus st170 but is now getting the new focus ST. his son is 38. its done 47,000 miles (i liked the sound of that!) it is a really nice colour and model. its the 130 bhp engine and everything is standard (i think). the soft top cover has been replaced 2 years ago so that perfect condition. started up almost first time today after a year and a half (after a quick charge) and sounded lovely! i red sumwhere that the xr3i's dont have recaro seats as standard, this one has got them so does that mean they were put in after (modification???). the front right wheel bush needs replacing to but apart fron that its a lovely motor.
do u think its worth having it for free? lol
i wanna spend £300-£500 and do it up and eirtha have it as my car or just sell it on... what do you guys think i should do. all views and advice much appreciated

For free? Gotta be worth snapping up, surely?! Even if you dont end up doing it up, you could make a few quid from parts. Either way, sounds worth having for free

Is it worth having for free??! Get involved mate! Any car is worth having for free!
I wouldn't spend too much on it though if you plan to sell it on as they're not worth a huge amount, but by the sounds of things its pretty good as it is so why would you need to spend 500 quid on it anyway? Clean it up a bit stick a years ticket on it and sell it on. If you plan to keep it though, the 130 spec xrs are pretty nippy cars, I have one, and cracking little runarounds really. Either way, get it 'bought'!

Yeah, too right!!their good little cars and don't rot nearly as bad as the hardtop versions.
The recaros sound aftermarket to me,they came with wingback seats.
Apart from a few service items, that could be on the road very cheaply.

Go for it mate. You don't get offers like that very often. Even if you change your mind once you've got it you can sell it straight on for a few hundred without doing anything to it.

lol, well happy with it. got my local mechanic to pick it up yesturday before my customer changed his mind, its now at the garage. he's gonna have a look over, replace the 2 front bush's (£20 each he said) bidding on a front headlight on ebay (at £10 at the mo) my mate has a tire company so he will sort me out 2 front tires. once they are done i will get it MOT'd then take it to my dads mate for a touch up. will get pictures up once ive sorted it. within a month. its imaculate inside and feels like a classic! lol. i think i mite keep it and store it after each summer! gotta be worth a bit in 10 years!
