call me a thicko, but whats the challenge rear panel? the black (carbon?) rear light panel?
355s with sports exhausts sound mad when being caned, remember following one thru Cornwall years back, sounded ace.

Usually that back panel is fibre-glass and the same colour as the bodywork.

yes mate the dark rear panel, its normally body coloured. I thought it was standard on F1's but Doug has educated me that they aren't. Look much HARDER with it

Ok, next silly question. Whats "F1 Berlinetta" about? Or are they all like that or is that some extras compared to a "normal" model. I saw you said about F1 shift (buttons/paddles?) etc, is that what that means? (As you can see, i know nothing much about them barring performance )

Steve, three body styles:
Spyder = convertable, fold down roof
GTS = removable roof panel (stores behind seats when off)
GTB = fixed roof
The F1 bit can apply to all three, as it is the paddle shift option.
NOT an auto though, electronic clutch (only two pedals)......
6 speed, in "sports mode it changes gears in under 5th of a second,
and all shifts are full throttle - i.e. you dont lift at all........
The rev limiter is at 8,900 RPM
The "normal" look (non challenge rear grille).....:

I was going to leave the pics up for a couple of hours because I honestely thought that there would be loads of negative posts. Stuff like how Ferrari's are not very well built/slow/unreliable/for posers etc etc. But I'm very pleasently surprised by the nice comments made on here by everyone
I know that on the MLR (EVO's) forum, all Ferrari's used to be slagged off VERY badly, is seemed that every EVO owner had raced one and beat it easily, lots of uninformed sh*t about them not being good cars, tricky handling, unreliable, for posers....
Then last summer Simon Norris (Norris Designs - ace Jap Car tuner) bought a yellow 360 (Spyder), and as if by MAGIC, there were no more bad posts about Ferrari's on the MLR

Missed this post somehow till now.
Your mr2 replica looks great doug, almost as good as a real MR2 infact.
Have heard a rumour you might be bringing it to weston on sunday, so if you do make sure you take me for a lap round town in it
Although it will actually feel slow around there compared to being passenger in your escos i suspect!

Well, I have driven Dougs "MR2" and there is no doubt it is a superb car.
Doug is one lucky guy but is far from the typical ferrari poser type person.
I can vouch that Doug does prefer the cossie over the 355 but its nice to have a choice.
Just one thing, Doug used to tease me about my 4 pink jap injectors on my cossie
saying it was a bit gay but but one day I looked in his 355's engine bay and it has
8 pink injectors - Twice as gay as me then
Just needs a truck turbo on it now to make it perfect .......

Seriously, have followed ( raced!!) this car a lot, and the attention it gets is nothing short of amazing - everyone appreciates a nice Ferrari, and this is one. The exhaust sounds mad, even at idle.
It's also quick, though the mid range may be a bit Stage 3 Cos, the top end is more 500bhp cos - think it does something over 180mph IIRC? Sure Doug can confirm.
Keep the pics up Doug, this a car enthusiasts site and I'm sure 99% of the real enthusiasts will love the pics
