I ran a leccy pump onmy last car and for normal use, i.e fast flowing bends, or just turning at a slow rate it was great, but as soon as you give it a quick rack and go from say near full left to full right very quicky(or vice versa) - e.g tight chicanes, the feckers near on lock up as your forcing the fluid faster than the pump pumps it.
Im not sure on what pressure comes out of the electric pumps, but iirc the grp a ZF is 150bar (off the top of my head) thats a hell of a lot of pressure in a pas system, i think the std pump was 90bar.
I even modded my electric system to up the pressure, still didnt work.
I fyou ran skinny tyres then you may get away with it.
on a track they work fine, is there an advantage, you would have to work out the losses used by both systems on and off load, but if the BTCC boys are running them there must be an advantage to it.

If you use an electric pump you completely do away with the standard sapph power steering set-up, the pulley, the power steering fluid tank, pipe work and the likes? If so, could you relocate the alternator to where the power steering pulley is so that it is out the way of the heat from manifold and turbo?
Would this work, is it viable or am i being a helmet by asking?

another reason for circuit racers to use an electro hydraulic setup is that they can position the heavy pump where's best for weight distribution.
