Increase horsepower?
hi,
i've got a mk6 fiesta 1.4 zetec climate which has around 83 bhp, and was wondering how i could increase the power, ive looked in to a bluefin chip which is about £250, what other ways is there? which are cheapish and have a good effect
thanks

Not really... I'd sell the car and get the ST. Or if you are attached to the car fit a larger engine.
You'll spend a fortune tuning the 1.4 just to get it to the standard output of the 1.6, and nowhere near the 2.0

theres an ST in the mk6.5, thats what i thought, because im only 19 the insurance destroys my bank so i think if i have it a couple more years i might put a larger engine in it like a 2L duratec

yeah mk1 and mk 2 are Xr2 mk 3 has rs turbo and xr2 and theres no sport version on teh mk 4 mk5 has zs and mk6 has 1.6 zs and 2L st mk 7 has 1.6 zs and a S1600 which is just a zs whith an heafty price tag and stripes
but if yove just not long statred drivng (this is an assumption) just save up your money and drive carefuly getting use to driving and satying away from points next year sell your 1.4 as standerd and buy a zetce s not much more to insure and more power, lower with the factory boadykit ect ect looks much better!!!
trust me its the best way thats what im doing

I should think it's actually less than that, at one time the 1.4 (In the older model) did have 88HP but this was reduced to 75HP for emission reasons. TBH I would leave it as it is, save your money and then buy something better later on or as you say change the engine then, legally even if you did change the engine you need to inform your insurers anyway thus would be an increase in your premium.

PassionFord Post Whore!!
To be honest just do a brake change to either Fiesta ST brakes (280mm) or Focus St 170(300mm) if over 16inch wheels, lower it on a set of springs (eibach make)
Will handle ok then and stop better.
The 1.6 conversion is just block and head if you do decide to do this.

Oops, was thinking of the latest Fiesta! ST was Mk6.
When I was a teenager I wasted lots of cash trying to turn underpowered cars into something they're not. From experience, save the money for a faster car... I wish I had
