what vauxhall do you hate and why?Anti vauxhall thread ftw
nova, rust and horrible steering coloum position, handle horrible,
Mk2 astra/belmont, nearly all rotten and ragged, parts are rare
Mk3 astra, probably one of the most boring and dull cars in the world
Calibra, pointless wanna be sporty coupe, turbos used shit 4x4 systems which are made from chocolate, interiors wear bad and are immensly ugly
Vectra B apart from gsi, Slow, shit on fuel, shit gearlinkages, rust, electrical gubbins
Corsa B, Handle shit, chavs adore them, c20let converted ones for spotty chavs who aint got a clue and cant afford to insure them properly, usually bodged, interiors are shit, ''is that a red top turbo m8?''
Mk4 astra gsi/sri turbos, shit engines which die after 300bhp,weigh more than the moon, parts are majorly expensive, chavs love them
Astra vxr and corsa vxr, shit z20leh engines, die at 300bhp, expensive for parts, seats are like sitting on bricks, any one can drive them as they feel electric to drive.
Astra mk4 vans, SHitty GM and isuzu 1.7 engines love to melt pistons, sound like tanks, shit on fuel, shitty worn gearlinkages
Corsa vans, pointless car trying to be a van
Vauxhall vivaro van, based on a renault/nissan, need i say more.
probably more i really dislike, I had a soft spot for c20lets but you need more money than sense or knowlege to keep them going, need money to make them over 300bhp, same as z20let engines which are very expensive, f16-f20-f28-f23 boxes are shit!! k24 and k16 turbos last 5 minutes over 16 psi of boost, EDS software is shit and maps are overly priced, chav coilovers are everywhere, £200 for ebay jobs, usually fitted to all astra mk4's or corsas, if not cut springs do the job well, Vauxhall rape everyone for parts, £2900 for corsa vxr bumpers, skirts, spoiler and repeater surrounds in primer, £1600 for 1 astra mk4 gsi recaro in half leather.
if you like vauxhalls or have a reliable run around i dont care its wank

i just think they are horrible
interiors are usual terrible and the older ones rot like fuck just like fords
if i saw a minter mk1 astra gte i woudl be impressed as mush as any sporty era ford too tho
theres not much between fords and vx really is there, 80's cars rotted and got stolen but were quick and their bigger cars are worth nothin after a few years (vectras and mondys)

well put it this way, was a vauxhall manta used in the professionals? no a capri 3.0 s was, were vauxhall btcc champions in the 80s? no haha
did vauxhall win the wrc championship years in a row? vauxhalls havent made a van like the transit ever and never will do, 40 years strong and still voted the uks best van, fords own vauxhall its just a proven fact!
I cant remember seeing a decent rwd turbo vauxhall either
GM fail!

They're for Chavs. You can watch them get older and work their way through the Vauxhall family
17 year old just passed his test. Goes out and gets his first Corsa 1.2 8v with 45bhp. Promptly orders the entire Ripspeed catalogue complete with cone filter bigger than the engine and bean can sticking out the back.
Crashes Corsa and wants something with a bit more go. In steps the Ashtray SRi which has "2 litre innit". Once again the bean can makes an appearance and foglights are permanently on... Strangely the dipped beam lights don't work, only the sidelights.
Baz then gets his 15 year old girlfriend pregnant and needs a bigger car to cart mum and baby down to the post office and Iceland everyweek... Hello Mr Vectra with derv engine.
Fucking wankers I'd never own one

they made great engine with laods of torque and wonderful fuel economy, but other than that, i've not liked anything about any of the vauxhalls i've owned or driven "out of the box"
and now we've got a fleet of vivario's and i'm thinking "they are really fast in a straight line, but everything else is totaly shit" have you tried to fill the windscreen washer bottle in one

To be honest ive had a few in the past and all have been good
Had a mk1 astra SR,i also had a mk1 astra gte which i loved,cav Gsi
Had a v6 omega estate which went everyware with no problems it towed my mk1 escort around the country no problems at all
Had a mk5 astra estate which was also a good everyday car
Overall ive found them much much better than any ford of the same year

just find it funny how majority of people my age or younger buy and die in c20let corsas haha, because they cant afford to insure a frst or a cossie so want cheap power which is built in a shed and built by a 20 year old who thinks he can build a wrc car with a halfords tool set.
Theres shit loads of wanky corsas, novas and astras round here with apparently 500bhp at 5 bar of boost running standard k16 or k24 turbos and bodged intercoolers, i cant wait to get a 2wd saph and get jano to sort it out with a good map and 2.2 bar and royally fuck vauxhall owners up the arse.

Too many posts.. I need a life!!
The vectra B engine in all guises have more than their fair share of problems. EML lights keep appearing, throttle bodies need constant cleaning, the 1.8/2.0 eco-wreck engines have their cam belt rollers coated in a sort of plastic which deteriorates and in turn destroys the belt. Bang. The 2.2 lumps suffer from chain problems due to vx not making the oil feed large enough. Rattle rattle. Bang. The V6 have their own problems too. Rear manifolds always blow and are an utter shit to change, water pumps seem to like being replaced, the cooler pipe (which runs inside the rocker box) seals go with alarming regularity resulting in the engine oil becoming white and rather creamy. Rumble, rattle. Crank gone.
Rear suspension bushes always creak and need to be replaced with genuine parts. Handbrake shoes like to jam on and disintegrate. With the diesel engine, fuel pumps on 2.0 engines pack up without warning. A £1500 job.
Don't you just love them?

Can't say I hate all of them to be honest.
Nova has gone beyond chav now, and is quite cool in a retro kind of a way.
Always liked the Cavalier Turbo and GSI too, and the Calibra, though most Calibras are scrap these days it seems.
Corsa is just dire and I hate it. All of them to be honest. Astra is also a bit of a disaster. MK3 GSI looked ok, but the MK3 has a scary chassis. I hate the way everyone raves about the GTE just cos it was quick in a straight line, never mind the fact it was shite in every other respect. MK4 was just dull as dishwater and the MK5 looks cack in 5dr guise. Sport hatch looks ok, but totally uninspiring otherwise.
Vectra, again, looks ok, especially in GSI form, but they seem riddled with faults. Everyone I know who's had a Vectra has had no end of problems with it. Interior has been awful in all of them, and the handling of the earlier cars was just unforgivable.
But, Ford are hardly innocent when it comes to making the odd bad car Though when it comes to iconic cars and motorsport success, they just piss all over Vauxhall in my eyes.

the one your sellin? duuuude for the money it cost to build the let an shit in that corsa You could build a awesome saph, im not gettin into a gay debate vauxhall vs ford as obviously pound for pound a cossie will always have more smiles and be worth more in the future, Cant go sideways in a corsa either or have the amount of workspace/room engine bay wise as a saph!

It might be a family thing but my dad has had fords since he was 17 ( 1977) and has never owned a vauxhall and fair play to him, tbf no one in my family has apart from my uncle and grandad who had a mv6 elite omega which lasted 3 weeks and a vectra which was on its 3rd headgasket and only had 4 gears after 110k miles

I'be never been into Vauxhall's I just dont like them. I think they may as well rename the Corsa the 'Chav' and the Astra the 'Scrote' Driven by people heading for an ASBO
The above only seems to apply from when the Corsa replaced the Nova....
However having said all the above, the the only Vauxhall I ever had a soft spot for was the Mk2 Cavalier hatchback.
Only because my dad had one on a B Plate (think that was mk2). it was 'China Blue' and was a diesel. he worked as a self employed courier at the time (long time retired as he's 71 now) and was allowed to use it instead of a van. it did him proud, did starship miles in it and never really let him down from what I can remember.
EDIT: The Vauxhall Chevette wasn't that bad either (soory, justy harking back to when I was about 12 year old and remember my dads old motors. Dad had a red one, can still remember the reg plate 26 years on - NNA 299P)
He saw the light though after retirement and went for cars from the Ford stable lol

I really need to go walking the streets of local towns and get pics of the barry boy'd corsa c's round here, fucking millions of them, All lowered 60mm on cut springs or cheap ass argos plastic coilovers, ronal turbos or multi coloured wank vauxhall OEM wheels, IRMSCHER stickers everywhere and stickers like '' i <3 speed bumps'' and '' lower than a smack heads morals'' even though theres still about 8 inches of room underneath of them. few astra diesels around now with straight pipes(no reek/smoke though because not remapped) that go ''poooooo'' when they change gear
dont care about speckys 9.8 sec tigra either, straight line speed, wow pmsl sad spendin that much money on that. forgot about the tigra too, anyone over 4 foot cant fit in the back of one.

its horses for courses, different strokes, for different folkes. i bet the vauxhall brigade say the same about ford.
ive never been into vauxhalls, although to be fair, ive driven a lot of mates over the years, cav gsi's, astra's gsi's, astra gte 8v and 16v, cav sri 130, and they were all quick (ish) cars, and drove ok, for what they were. i wouldnt buy one though, there just not my cup of tea

Who's was the belmont then?
https://passionford.com/forum/album.php?albumid=3265
As for Vauxhalls, the new ones don't rust like Fords still do, the gearbox's are better than most of Ford's and you can get decent engine's (e.g Saab) to fit for cheap

Reading this thread just reminds me of nights out with my mate who owns a bmw 330ci and we always end up arguing whos car is best his bm or my saph.
I have had a few vauxhalls and they have always been reliable and pretty quick but would not go back now i have my cosworth.

Not a fan of them, however I do like the Lotus Carlton AKA the 177MPH super car the only car I would like from Vauxhall, should imagine it's quite a well built car as well.
It is still a Vauxhall, the engine is based on the 3.0 litre I6 from the GSI which Lotus then stroked to (3.6L) and then added two Garrett T25 turbochargers and tuned, in exactly the same way a Lotus Cortina is a Cortina.
There is no debate as to the Vauxhall inferior mechanics and build quality self releasing handbrakes anyone...

Your on. Soon as tickets come available, we'll both book on same session (if we remeber) and may the best man/car/driver win
I agree. Was a few Focus RS's to catch in the first session, in the second had the whole track to myself for about 5 laps. Just as I was catching the back markers a car ended up in gravel.
Good the zsoc sessions though. About half the price they are normally else where!
