Default 2006 Fiesta - How to remove wing mirror coloured back piece?

How does the body coloured back piece come off the electric wing mirror on a 2006 Fiesta? Is it just clipped into position or does it need the mirror to be dismantled?

Another quick question, if you bought a new mirror from Ford, would it come with the coloured back piece or does it come ready to paint?

Cheers

Cheers Gine.

My mam needs a new passenger side electric mirror, they're Ł214 from Ford but I've seen them online elsewhere for about Ł40-45 quid, so I think i'll be buying one online for her car. Her colour coded piece is fine, it's the electric gubbins inside the mirror that have broken, so it'd be nice to be able to swap the coloured pieces over when the new mirror arrives.

Easiest way to remove it is to take the glass off, you can then see the clips and pop them off with a screwdriver.

If you look down the edge of the glass you will see the retaining clips, you will need a small pick tool/awl or small flat blade screwdriver to press the clip in and release it, think there is 3 but be very careful as they snap off extremely easily.

Thanks
Marc

chances are a non OEM one wont fit the factory backing and so the pattern one will come with a primed backing,,,,,, and crappy wobbly fair ground mirror glass

stop being a tight arse and buy genuine,,,,,, just remember by purchasing GENUINE Ford parts you are allowing me to buy my little girl new Uggs every season !!!!!

henry ford is your friend,,,,,, he designed cars for you and your family,,,, dont use cheepo parts to maintain a car that is crafted with love for you and your family to enjoy there happiest moments of there lives in !!!

that is all im saying in the matter pmsl
