Default AWD Focus RS MK2, Anyone? Pics :)

Ok just found these pics on the FRSOC Forum. Wolf have converted their RS to 4WD using Kuga bits and a Drexler Diff.

I'm guessing it could be interesting since the torque limiter for 1st and 2nd can be removed. They have said it can handle about 500bhp too. Prices are still to be announced.

If it genuinely will handle 500bhp and similar torque levels then that's pretty interesting.

Cheers,

similar has been done in a volvo c30( same floorplan as focus) already with quaife diffs ,400 bhp,t5 engine with a 4wd volvo haldex drivetrain out of a v50/v60. it was a concept they are considering for production.

Sounds like it could be the answer to what a lot of people hoped it would be originally. Will watch with interest.

Why not use a Volvo transmission though? It's there and already capable. Ford missed trick there. Externally it looks crap on those wheels but I bet it's fantastic to drive if the transmission can handle it

nice but wont it have the same flaws with the haldex 4wd that the focus rs test mule had and was rejected by ford?? or as something been done to improve the performance of the 4wd system so its not dead weight 95% of the time??

The problem I see is that any idiot can and does raid the parts bin and bolt stuff together; this is an obvious conversion and it's not like it's hard to get bits from one C1 based product to fit onto another.

Where I see it falling over is - like most tuner efforts - that they really won't have the knowledge or resources to sort out the suspension setup for the car now they've made the changes. Certainly it isn't likely to be anywhere near as good as it was in original form. (The modified Focus RS' I've seen from various companies have looked horrible under any kind of hard use)

It's nice they've done it and something I'd be tempted to do too, on the other hand it's still only a Haldex setup and you're likely to f*ck the engine before you get it to a point where you *really* need the benefit of the AWD.

It has been tweaked to a 60/40 split using the Drexler Diff and Custom software.

Total shite !

So your saying the Official Ford German Race team and Ford Main Dealer and the company that uses Ford Warrentys to sell their parts won't have any knowledge to sort suspension out ?? So how the fuck did they race in the DTM and DTCC then ? by guessing

Ha Ha this has got to be the most stupid post ever

I'm surprised it's not been earlier, it's the obvious and easy conversion. Good to see one done anyway!

A price for the AWD conversion from Wolf would be good...........

But a parts list would be even better! ;o)

Prices have been quoted around 13.000 Euros. But some people are saying 15k with the Drexler Diff.

For me i think the benefit of the AWD is not being limited in 1st or 2nd. But power will most likely have to be upped to feel the same kind of response as the standard car due to the extra weight.

not really, they put bigger springs on with bigger wheels called it a kuga and sold it as a soft roader!

In my opinion the 2.5 kuga drives better than the 2.5 st.

i can see this being the next shed modification for focus's in the future when they get cheap and when kuga's are worthless.

for example people putting the astra GTE running gear in nova's or putting the granada cosworth engine in XR4x4/4s

when the cars are new it seems abit wild but in a few years i think i may become more common
