Default Vauxhall Corsa 1.2 help!

Anyone know the spec of the 1.2 engine in a Vauxhall Corsa Design 2005 (55 plate)?

Chain driven? Hearing from a garage that the camshaft has snapped, so wondering how much of a mess is likely.

Not my car - just one of my guys at work....

Yes chain driven, not heard of cam failing but have heard of the chains letting go. If the cam has failed it's not too easy to say what damage has occured. Need to get the top off and have a look at the valvetrain and see how it all seems. Just have to leave it in the hands of Lady Luck

the mrs has a 2000 1.2 which started making a tappety noice. I pressumed it needed the followers changing. Got that done but to no avail, got a new tensioner for the chain, that didnt cure it, spoke to 2 mechanic friends whome both replies were to get shut of it. Their experiences with working on them is that when they start getting worked on they are never the same again. also when trying to rectify small problems such as the tappety noise which is very common (google it) can cost a fortune in time which is why they simply refuse to work on them. We ended up leaving the cart as it was and selling it on ebay with the noise explained in the advert.

Just letting you know my experience with them, hopefully you will have much better luck than me mate.
