Fuel rail bracket broke I believe causing the rail to pop out, there is a video on you tube from in the car !

Short of the mesh in the air vent and the filter I think that was the only damage as well ! lucky for sure.

Was mine Roosie.

Basically 1 of the small brackets that bolt to the fuel rail and the plenum sheared meaning the fuel rail could move. I have no idea when it broke but it allowed the rail to move away enough for the injector to pop out at the rail end. So I basically had an 044 pumping fuel straight through -6 hose into the engine bay until it eventually ignited to this!

Bloody hell, scarey stuff, all the fibreglass etc would've gone in no time if that bloe with the extinguisher wasn't there to respond so quickly!

Any idea how much a plumbed in fire extinguisher setup would weigh?

The system fitted to my car when that happened weighs just under 4KG but I was long gone before I even thought about pulling the trigger!!!!

Next time I will know what to do.

That all depends on what inlet your running though roosie and how it bolts up to the inlet. Mine doesn't bolt up to the normal mounts. The injector should fit snug in both ends with the O ring sitting well into the recess.

What rail have you got?

Sounds like its not bolted up right to push the injector fully in or the recess is not deep enough for the injector and o-ring to sit correct seated.

You had a lucky escape that time then, hopefully you'll never need to use it again!

Out of interest, which system do you have fitted? It's something i'd not really considered until I read this thread, now i'd be very tempted to fit one post IVA.

Lifeline clubman in both mine and Lee's Westies.

Roosie, mine isn't one of those mate and bolts up totally different so don't get confused. It did work on the same principle with the bolt on mounts though. I've done away with that design and it's all one solid piece now with massively strong built in brackets.

Yours sounds like you don't have it bolted on correct causing too bigger gap and the injector to not sit proper.

Not really. Got a few on the day at Combe but not really used it much this year. Concentrated on getting best tyre/wheel combo for lightness and grip and then getting it all mapped properly and the best power from the engine.

Looked nasty. I hope not too much damage has been caused and you can get it back on track.

It was all done about 2 weeks after mate and back out at TOTB in August running 10 second quarters! Sure it's got a 9 in it somewhere as it's running the full power now!!

Mint.

It would be a heartbreaker to lose a machine like that.
