Exhaust valve / flap splitter thingy - where to get one from?
Anyone know where or how I can get / make a valve / flap thingy that will send my exhaust gasses down either a noisey side of my exhaust or down the quiet side?
I need my exhaust quiet for track days, but miss the deep / loud note it used to make before my current system.
I plan to get a custom made exhaust, with a Y piece in it, with one side of the Y going off into a couple of large silencers then to a small tail pipe.
The other side of the Y pipe will go down either a straight unsilenced pipe, or maybe it'll have 1 small silencer.
What I need is a way to swap from one to the other fairly easily. I could simply get two exhausts, and swap one for the other but that's a pain in the butt! Would be nice to have both systems on the car at the same time, and swap between the two easily.
Anyone got any suggestions?

You can get an exhaust with a butterfly valve in like the aston martins. But it comes at a price, and when your in the higher rev range it will be as loud! My mate puts a sports cat on the end of the exhaust at low db trackdays and it seems to do the trick....as well as telling them it only revs to whats shown on the clocks...

You could do something similar to what's on my f355. There is a bypass valve in the exhaust that opens up over 2850 rpm in most of the gears (slightly higher in 3rd)
It has a actuator fitted and works via a signal from the ECU and it uses a air-pump.
Basically the headers are split into 2 at the end so one route to the silencer is open all the time and one route is the switchable one ( y shaped bypass pipe)
see parts below

Thankyou everyone
That's given me something to think about.
2 maps shouldn't be a problem, I'm on the original ECU so can run switchable maps
C&B - I currently use a large silenced decat made by my brother of all people It's been the only thing that has got me onto as many track days as I have so far.
Best thing for me to is replace the OE Super Dragger that is on there, as that at 2.75" must be restricting my power, and could be made quieter.
I may take your simpler suggestion and just go down the V Band / Quick release route, and swap exhausts over for track days or road use
