I would have thought so, mikes went into his transit connect on all the old N/A zetec 1800 mounts etc.

IMO I Can't see why not as long as there arn't any clearance issues that'd provide much of a headache.
The focus RS engine is afterall pretty much a 2.0 Zetec.

Does anybody know if this has done this before that could point you in the right direction?

Good luck and i wanna see pics lol (READ : build diary)

Replied with the same on your other thread, I should think the actual engine would fit as it's based on the 2L Zetec anyway, but you then have the management, loom etc and the exhaust would need modifying for obvious reasons.

straight fit to me means mating up to existing gearbox and utilising the same engine mounts

a FRS engine is a 5 cyl volvo based block so prob wouldnt mate up to the 4 cyl zetec/duratec engine mounts and the gearbox

I think you are talking about a mk2 focus RS and everyone else in the thread is talking about a mk1 focus RS

there was an article a few moths ago in fast ford where a guy had done this exact conversion. he paid a garage to do it but i woild imagine it would be very easy seeing as a focus rs engine is just a blacktop. use your mondeo mounts and rad etc etc just mount some sort of intercooler and get an exhaust made and use the focus loom and ecu and you'll nearly be there

yeah, im aware of that mate, but he is refering to the MK1 FRS engine. the MK1 and MK2 mondeo's run zetec engines as you will know, and the MK1 FRS engine, even though it says duratec, is a posh zetec, like the ST170, so it will be pretty much a straight fit. as i said, i know of a lad with an FRS engine in his MK1 mondeo, he is a member on a mondeo forum i help run. he sent the car to TOTD iirc, to do his conversion, but im sure he said the engine dropped straight in it, obviously getting it running wasnt as straight forward. with the MK2 mondeo being a facelift of the MK1, if the FRS engine fits a MK1 mondeo, it will fit a MK2.

It’s an old thread,

Unless you have a complete Rs lump sat in the garrage you may want to have a re think. The bits are now hard to find and cost shit loads.

if you have, happy days it’s all doable even the ecu.

Wouldn’t it be better to get a Duratec and either add throttle bodies or maybe turbo / supercharge that?
