Get your rear bushes checked mush,my e36 wandered about at first and these cured it.never had any obvious issues with that in the wet unless is was being silly.
Don't 525's come with LSD? I know my 2.8 has one and deffo the e36 325i does too!!

A lot of it is down to tyres, IMO.
I had cheap old ditchfinders on a C-Class merc and in the wet it went sideways everywhere... Good fun actually.
Now that I've put on Michelins it almost feels like it's FWD.

Some bollocks on this thread , the only two sensible suggestions so far are check the geometry and be lighter on the throttle.
Rear wheel drive, especially with an open diff isn't bad in the wet. Serious suggestion, but if it's your first rear drive car, go on a driving course to teach you how to drive them! A few good courses in the back of Evo mag etc..

are you saying the use of good quality tyres is a load of bollocks?
good idea on the driving course, skid pan training is a very good idea!!

Todays the first day its rained since I bought my open diff'd E34 TDS Tourer, rather looking forward to it to be honest.
Going to go out later and look for an empty roundabout to practice on, never owned a RWD before so good opportunity to learn to go sideways on cheapo rubber.

Thats with tyres with about 4mm of tread so not exactly brand new but not totally work out either.
Wet weather friendly they aint!

Team HOTHOT!
My L200 truck is RWD when not in 4x4 and with it's big nobbley mud tyres on is either dangerous or hillarious in the wet - depending on which way you look at it!

firstly ditch the cheap ass tyres. they are your ONLY contact with the road and make a HUGE difference to a cars handling...FACT! oh dont go and put pirrelli p6000 on, they are wank and have been nick named pirrelli ditch finders. get some hancook v12 or s1, very good tyres.
secondly, go lighter with the throttle. cars were first built rwd, the original mini was the first to be fwd. it just takes a bit of time to get used to driving rwd cars. gentle and smoothness is key to driving safely regardless of the car.

Took me a few weeks to learn how to take a roundabout at more than 20mph..and that was in an auto seirra

Gave the car a good going over today, all the tyres are wearing big time on the inner edge, so suspect tracking is out. And axle bushes are absuloutly fucked big time!
So hopefully once i've had the bushes done, four half decent tyres - they were 235/40/18 btw - and done the tracking it'll be something more like it.
& i'll deffo look into the driving course, thanks for the constructive suggestions chaps!

i think the problem is that you want to go sideways but when it breaks out you shite it,don't worry we have all been there.
its not the way i learned but i would suggest a drift day somewhere local to you, that should help you get rid of the fear in a safe inviroment.
we were doing things like this on the hardly used roundabouts in ind estates.

now i'm no expert but i'm quite happy to be at 80mph+ sideways in 3rd now.
(never on the road tho,the roads are for going to tesco on).
alittle vid from the last crail day..

rwd is and has always been the way to really learn to drive imo so stick with it!
