The Tdi is better than the normal Diesel, it goes very well.

I'd be tempted to look at the turbo if it's been round the clock, as i would expect it to be a bit worn.

Check the normal stuff, i.e blue/white smoke from cold. Don't be worried about the black smoke coz they all do it when you pull away and sometimes when u change gear.

Make sure it has been serviced regularly as this will shorten the life of the engine, in diesels i think it is very important to keep to the service schedule.

If this all checks out ok then it should be a sound motor, the diesel engines last longer than the petrol equivalents anyway so don't worry about it going round the clock ;)

It does wind me up when people say 'oh your car has gone round the clock so it's gonna let go at any minute' This is rubbish and if the service schedules are kept to, you let it warm up and cool down, there is no reason why the engine will last a lot longer than that.

BTW i work in Dagenham with the 1.8, 2.0, 2.2, 2.4 & 2.7 V6 TDCi engines and we are suprised if an engine doesn't last 200,000 miles ;)

cheers m8!

I know about the black smoke as i got a diesel @ the mo!

its a local dealer who took it in on a px so it aint got no history!

I have no probs doin a cam belt & sevice on it so not to worried about that!

will have a lil check of the turbo! :top:

Yea wasnt to sure if round the clock was a magor issue as they do trend to go on & on!

How noisey should the enigne be really!?

they pron to any oil leaks in certain places!?
