Default porsche boxters

I was out in a mates car earlier today, which is a mk2 golf valver, quite fast. Anyway we got completely dicked by a porsche boxster, not sure which one but it was the early shape, which i believe is the 986 model.

Looking on PH they are £8k now for a 3.2S which is bloody cheap for a porsche.

Im just wondering how tunable they are ? Matey with the golf is quite tempted by one after seeing it shift...

Not sure on how tuneablle they are but I had a Boxster S a couple of years ago, found it very cramped inside (im only short as well!), felt old fashioned and to be honest a bit of a dick driving it!!!! Handled very nicely though and was 'ok' quick but i wouldnt buy another one.

tuned 4 door 4wd saloon vs rwd 2 seat sports cars......great comparison

boxters are very very good and IMO much nicer to drive than a subapoo in terms of driver pleasure.

How the fuck are they a poor mans 911....they a 2 seat mid engined softop

911 is a rear engined 4 seater

I think a Facelift 3.2S in Seal Grey 18" Turbo 2/Carrera wheels is a very nice looking car, but no matter how much I tried, I personally wouldn't be able to stop thinking that I should have saved a little bit longer and got a 911.

So if I was going for a 2-seater soft-top then I'd rather go for a facelifted S2000.

Cheers,
Grant

They really aren't that quick, just as a comparison, a mate of mine had one a few years back on demo or something from his work, I just about kept up with it in my Punto GT (170bhp), I do like how they sound.

As others have said, the Boxter is more about the way it drives than straight line pace. But not my kind of thing at all, not interested in 2 seater soft tops unless you go down the road of Ferraris etc. Suppose it's good for what it does, but they've got that hairdresser look about them. Lol

A few yrs back I remember testing a 986 S for about 10 miles then getting back into my saph and thinking how cheap and nasty it was and how I wanted rid of it!

Its a quality item the Box but its paluged by a silly image but a properly driven one will be very fast.

i was going to add that, but that probably would be accurate, seeing as they are basically the same model of car, just different specs.

it just wouldn't fit in with comparing completely different cars.

each car should be judged on what it is, not because its cheaper than another model

raced many driven a few could have owned one at various points in my life and something has always stopped me.

slow in my opinion and poor mans 911 is bang on.

why have a porsche if its not a 911?

top that with the fact that its most hairdressers dream car and its 3 strikes for the boxster.

I see the arse talkers are here in abundance today!

Not fast but handle well... but nippy enough for round town driving.

Poor mans porka my ass.... when you've got a 911 you can tell me its a poor mans porka. Until then you cant. My betting is if you had a 911 you would have no comment anyways as you probably wouldn't be arsed.

I have a friend who knows some one with a poo brown lambo gallordo thingy.

Was at the pub - chap says
That your Lambo mate.
Yes
What a shit colour.
He says - what colour is yours?
Exactly...

Until you've got a 911 you cant call a boxster a poor mans 911.

What about a classic 911 - is that because you cant afford a newer one???

ok mr shings, you believe that all the people that have commented on here cant afford a 911.

boxster s 10k and you can get a 911 for 15k and below. Are you trying to say that someone with 10k cant get 15k.

i could have bought a 911 at 3 points in my life and have not due to not being able to afford a turbo one.

its not jealousy and its not an affordability issue. In my opinion they are slow ugly and you look gay in them.

My wife loves them though (says it all)

but i agree with youre poo brown comment, lots of people are like that and i hate them. like when i bought a red escos. or a yellow cupra r or an M5 with green leather, or on M3 with caramel leather.

All the cars were shit in my mates eyes even though most of them were driving sub £1000 shitters.
