But i was out with the pooch last night and the stars around my cottage in the sticks are properly stunning.

Was looking up to see if i recognised anything. Saw a "frying pan" and "shopping trolley"

What are the names? And the rest?

I know that some of the constellations are just random and tricky to spot...anyone into this shit?

Spent ages looking up while the dog was going bananas running about. Being in the countryside makes them seriously bright, light pollution does have an effect.

Maybe a site link like that would be good....with just a touch less bumming.

Good start though.

Thought there might be more input as i know that telescopes 'n stuff are popular. I'm not going that far, but might pass ten minutes when out walking trying to spot some stuff

There is a site that tells you when the ISS will go overhead, its pretty cool to see.

As well as looking into the constellations etc you really need to get into the pysics/chemistry behind the stars, and all that jazz.

if you have google earth you can switch between earth + sky tells you what thea are all called

you can aso look at the moon and mars if your in to that sort of thing
