Fuffing Twunts!! Advice needed on keyed paintwork pls
Got back to my car after just before 7pm and someone has smashed my mirror off the drivers door and keyed three long scratches in the paint work on the same side (door and side panel). Been done by someone walking past it as drivers side was kerb side Wasn't parked badly or anything, just along the was from a subway so think someone has just done it because it was there on the way past
Anyway, going to see if I can sort it myself as forgot my insurance excess is £250 now () although fully comp. Can fix the mirror myself I reckon (the electrics still work thankfully) but not sure if t-cut is going to be enough? What's best to use if t-cut isn't upto the job?
Not got any pics as was too dark to get some earlier on or at the moment. Annoying as its pearlescent silver (so will be a b'stard to match paint for)and just had it valeted at the weekend
Any advice gladly received

depends how deep the scratches are really, are they down to the primer at all?! chances are they'll need a flat with some 1500 or 200 wet and dry then compound to bring it bak up again.
But if its down to primer mate then its a respray, and about £150 odd a panel!!

Thanks Toe Knee . Probably not what I wanted to hear, but hey ho. May have to go through the insurance after all as I'll probably just bugger it up with wet and dry. Not sure about it being through the primer, but I know it has a blue base coat/primer which I haven't seen showing though. Best have a look it day light and maybe try a small section first as each scratch is the length of the door / rear section

as above, if it hasnt hit the basecoat and theres enough lacquer u can flat it out BUT by the time u get rid of said scratch its hit or miss whether its on the limit or not!!!
Which is why alot of places wont spend the time trying to get it out to then have to paint it anyway!!
Got nothing to loose tho!!

Well good news by the looks of it as my dad has had a good go over it today and it looks all sorted as its only gone through the lacquer fortunately. Wing mirror has gone back together okay too Just bought a mirror glass off ebay as its a heated one so should be all done by the weekend if lucky. The dibble said another car was done at the same time as well
Thanks all, ps love the tag!
