Default halfords advance/pro replacement guarentee

Has anyone taken anything damaged back and had been told u need the original receipt?!

Basically the gf bought me the industrial cab and came with loads of tools about a year ago, the spark plug socket broke so took it in to swap it over and the guy on the desk being all smug said they wont replace it unless u have the receipt to prove u bought it, as the guarentee is non transferable and without the receipt you cant prove u bought it

After a bit of arguing about the fact they dont tell u that when u buy it and doesnt say anything on the receipt he eventually changed it over for me, so just wondered if anyone else has been told the same thing?! ive got loads of other bits ive bought from there but fuck knows where the receipts are

Yeah, they've said that to me and refused me. Wankers. My point was that if there was a life time guarantee it makes no difference who bought them and where the receipt is.

Halfrauds are shit

I bought a plug spanner which shit its self when i trtied to remove a plug
Exchanged it for a better one which also shit its self
then got a full refund
Luckily, all this was on the same day and i had the reciept

My mate's Transporter eats batterys at the rate of one a year
so what he done was by one from Halfrauds which comes with a four year warranty and he just takes em back for a new one every year.
Must admit, it gives me a smile every time he gets a new one

I try not to buy anything from there as its just over priced and of a shity quality hence the name........

Took a 17mm ratchet spanner back and changed it without any fuss what so ever , if its got a guarantee and the name is stamped on it like "halfords professional" then there really is no contest .

yea same here, tried to tell me its the same as the warrenty u get on tvs etc but a lifetime guarentee isnt the same as a warrenty!!! Fair enough if i wanted to try get a refund i wouldnt argue but it doesnt state anywhere its for the purchaser only!!

He said that u could have got it off a mate etc which is why their alot more strict but said the same, what differnet doesnt it matter who bought it if its fucked and u guarentee it for life then replace it!!

They tried telling me I could have bought my set from a car boot sale. All of the Halfords in the Cardiff area refused to swap damaged parts also. A few years back they did it no problem.

well its the same with any lifetime gareuntee even snap-on its

a) only for the orginal purchaser
b) you have to have some sort of reciept for it (snap-on guys might have info still on there computers if your a regular)

You're off your head, the tools are excellent quality, and you wont find better quality tools any cheaper than their pro range.

Look up your bank statments if bought with a card. Get a transaction reference number, and go back to them with that?
