Default Vodaphone billing issue, need advice.

I've just had the last months bill come through and I was slightly shocked when it was £181 !

My contract gives me 900 free minutes and 500 texts, now to be fair I knew I was well over on the texts or I atleast expected to be but they claim I have sent 1847 in one month

Now I took a look through my itemised billing and have found that on every page there are texts sent in the same minute to the same person, atleast 3 or 4 times on each page, in some cases 7 texts to the same number in the same minute.

I can imagine that maybe on a few occasions I will of quickly hit the send button by accident and then sent another but after going through the first 20 pages and seeing so many on each page I personally think there has to be a mistake.

I have a new N97 mini which is my first touch screen phone, on occasions I have called people from my pocket so I though it maybe a possibility I had kept doing this for a month so I checked my mums bill as she doesn't have a touch screen phone and tbh rarely sends texts, her bill is the same, ok only £7 over her allowed number of texts but she has numerous texts sent to the same number in the same minute so I honestly believe Vodaphone are trying to have one over us here.

Has anyone else noticed any change in their bills from Vodaphone or experienced this in the past.

I'm going to call them shortly and try and sort this out but tbh I wonder wether they will instantly get on the defensive and claim I did send them as I cannot see how I could prove otherwise.

Approx 76 texts a day I think even a 16 year old who lived at home doing nothing would struggle to get through, let alone someone who works all day and sends at a guess 15 max a day.

Thoughts and suggestions please

Deffo sounds odd! Why not ask the person who received your flurry of texts if they did or not... Depending on how often they delete them they might have some evidence for ya.

I need to go back through the list tbh as it was happening to various numbers, the one sent 7 times was in december iirc but I know who it was too. I didn't get as far as checking the recent texts as I was at work when I found out about it.

Good thinking though I will make some calls now.

Well I have to say I'm very impressed with Vodaphones customer service

Fearing the worst I was ready for a all out argument about the bill but they admitted (or the guy I spoke to did) that repeat messages is common on networks, it can be a network or handset fault but either way they wiped all my charges off so that was £120 saved straight away. They then lowered my price plan and gave me unlimited texts ! result.

He did say there was a issue with one customer who sent one text message whilst in France, this text then repeated itself for 2 months costiing her £300 for one text ! ouch.

My advice would be to keep an eye on your bill as if your like me your statements are only online and usually I wouldn't check them.

In regards to your multi messaging your phone model wont let you send multiple messages to the same recipient like that once you click send it takes you back to your in box so does sound like a network error.

Agreed they did BUT they sorted it out with no issues or withotu me having to raise my voice which lets face it you should not have to do when its quite clear there has been a misunderstanding.

Top service from them on this occasion

They're far from shit mate. Every time I've been on the phone to them (not many times I must add) they've been very helpful, polite, and english (all-be-it bloody northerners ) When my first phone broke, they sent me a brand new one the next day, no questions asked
They even phoned me up a few weeks later to make sure all was good with the new phone and my contract

i used to work there in the billing department(the call centre is in stoke because of cheap land/wages) so when i read jonnybravo post i would have done exactly the same thing as the advisor did.

Whenever i take a call from an customer ill always treat them as well as they treat me.....this is a word of warning to everyone who rings call centres, most of them are in stoke for all the big companys for example B.T, Vodafone, Government, NHS etc.

Ive worked for most of them, if you call them, keeping your carm and explain the situation fully, most of them will help you, its all about trust with me, if i think the customer is honest and a nice person ill move heaven and earth to make there day better, ring me off kicking off and you will get nothing from me and ill maintain any charge no matter if we are wrong or not.
