Got to pay for another £20 re test. I can only assume mr tester will be spitting feathers. But seriously thanks for the tip. I am proper skinted and the rear seats are honestly never used.

Dont see how id go through the windscreen with it bein a rear belt. And it aint endangering no one as its a fucking works motor and i dont carry passengers. How can the tester say the offside one is fine and when i put the offside one on the nearside, it now fails when he previously said it was ok..answer me that one people.

Understand your frustration, wasn't a Mk3 Fiesta by any chance, my sisters had fault on hers years ago wouldn't retract, IIRC there was a fault with some Mk3 Fiesta seat belts? Just bought a new one and found out about problem with them after paid up, but glad just get safely working belt again.

20K+ Super Poster.
If it retracts with being "fed" the belt is passes end of, it does NOT have to retract all on it's own, as a lot of older cars don't, if it does after being helped this is permissible.

a retractable seat belt has to retract on its own or it will not fit correctly say when u move forward and loosen it then it will be useless quote from vosa manual reasons for fail a retracting mechanism dose not retract the webbing sufficiently to remove all slack from the belt with the locking mechanism fastened and the seat unoccupied

Without trying to be cocky,
If you never carry passengers, remove the rear seats before the test. If the seats aren't in the belts don't need testing. Simples.
Had my focus MOT'd with only a drivers seat in it and the belts flapping all over the place - passed no probs and didn't even get a raised eyebrow!

and if it's your works motor why don't you get your work to sort it?
