our 307s been one fuck up after another, but it has returned nearly 60mpg for 160,000 miles so cant knock it to much. its fairly comfortable, handles ok for what it is and it pulls ok. only think i can recomend is the 110HDI, ours is the older 2.0 90 and its lame.

they are gutless, and if you try and make up time uv lost the antilock cuts in too fast and if it steps out its hard to gather back up.

mum has had 3 as company cars over the last few years.. all been 1.6 hdi 110ps
common faults...

both front window regulators, you have to do window all the way down to make them go up..

rear door handle caps fall off if you slam the door too hard.

glue on headlining is shit, you can hear it unsticking itself in hot weather,

goes through front discs and tyres rather quick,

when you wash the window you are blinded by water for about what seems like 2 seconds before the wipers start! not good..

it had to have a particulate filter drip charged or something this year and cost over Ł800 at the stealer!

overall a good car, the above points are just niggly things..

but i could live with all the above faults for 59.7mpg....

some people slag off french cars like hell but i've had 3 406 diesels, a 106 diesel and havent really had much trouble. all pugs wear very easy there not the best built cars but are fine really.. i find with french stuff there fine if you threat them right an don't give them grief, if you do they can play up a lot with drive shafts and gearboxes, wheel bearings seem to go often aswell.. engines including the hdi seem to go to the moon an back if serviced regular and oil checked. the thing is i don't tend to keep cars long anyway.. I know these are not 307's but pugs are great handling cars really

got a 306 TDI and it been great the engine is stong as a ox has never given me a issue. it' the rest of the car which is wank, in heavy rain the drivers side has a small swiming pool in the foot well. central locking is playing up now. the only issue has been the a front wheel bearing.

else it just does what it says on the tin, gets you from A to B with no issues

Tiff : My old Peugeot 406 hdi takes me from Portsmouth to London everyday and brings me back home every night. Two Hundred and twenty eight miles each day. It now has 186k miles on it, and does 55mpg sat at 80mph on the motorways. All I've done in the last three years is change the oil, filter and fuel filter, a few new tyres and a set of brake pads. It's flown through the last 3 mots with nothing more than an advisory on the handbrake needing adjustment. I bought it with 110k on the clock and have added 66k in three years with no problems at all.

Not the prettiest cars, not the most rust proof, but that engine makes them worth their weight in gold as an everyday commuter.

I think you'll be pleased with the mpg and reliability of the engine.

dont get me started on our 307 1 owner 26k miles, i only bought it in september, had a major gearbox fault, i had warranty issues that have not been sorted yet but the extended warranty didnt cover it as the fault started in the main warranty period(days) by time i got to book it in it was out of manufacture warranty by 4 days. jokers no one owning up,

its fixed at my expense and am selling to get a Focus.

oh and mines a facelift model. i believe the older ones have many more issues from reading various forums.

Hi Andy,
I saw your post and thought you could give some advice. I have someone offering a 307 S HDI 1.4 54 reg. However, the problem for me is that it has had the engine changed a few years ago and that has also somehow altered the mileage to a whooping 230k! So what things do i need to look out for? I have not gone to see the car yet but it looks decent (body wise) from the pictures. Also, I ran a history check on it and it's a category C.

I really appreciate your help. Thanks in advance.

A 54 plate Peugeot 307 with potentially 230k on the clock and registered cat C, I would say thats not even worth a wank tbh.

Default 307

A couple of engineers I have spoken to say that they have a problem with the blocks cracking. A crew member I know recently replaced his engine for this very reason.
