'Speedometer' problems, MK1 Mondeo K'93' plate
Hay there, i recently brought a Ford Mondeo 1.8 LX 115hp a couple of weeks back, first off it has been left for a few months so please take this in to account!
There are a few minor problems;
obviously the first and most important, the Speedo used to wobble but quite close to the actual speed reading but never stopped and always wobbled, but now its completly not working but i have read messages and there is no wining from gearbox, and no funny sounds, a friend assumes its a fuse, but i suspect otherwise, Please give me your opinions and advice.
i have a 5 week old daughter so i want to be responsable now.
also my windscreen washer pump seems to wind up but it isnt producing water, there is no blokage BUT the pipe has come off the pump but still no water leaking out of the pump when i look under the car after pumping the washer jet! Any advice or help would be much apreciated. i have been told by someone it might still be winding but the pump has seized, which makes as much sense as a car passing a MOT test without no exterior signaling lighting bulbs!
i have basic to average knowledge mechanicly so can manouver some assembling many thanks Colin

Curious then would this be a profesional job or would it be a fidly but able job for me to do, providing there where instructions, also, any ideas (if worse is to be) how much it would range to replace the Speedo cable if that is the suspect? i havent yet checked terminals in case of dirt or build up on both faults but now Xmas is here i have time to tinker wile the reletives are telling there life stories and the turkey is cooking! lol.
I have changed a washer pump on a Rover 200 (bubble/25/ZR shape) and involved unbolting the drivers wheel arch bumper bolts, a few under the bonnet leaver and pulling back the shit shield in the wheel arch, are mondeos just as obtainable or are they a... ... ... Ford!?!

easy job really, just remove the speedo clocks(a few screws) then look at the top of the gearbox towards the bulkhead and you will see the cable undo the nut holding it on and then pull it out, remove the inlet damper for more access (the big black thing in you engine bay!)
also buy a haynes manual as with your basic skills it will help you no end

laso as for the washer pump, if you can hear it working and nothings coming out stick it on some ramps and then disconnect the wiring plug, then use a bigish screwdriver to prise it out, then move quick or you will get wet!
clean up the blck filter/seal then refit
