who has a T4 turbo? help needed
i have a little problem with my t4 turbo on my car.
when it come back from msd there was a problem with the turbo and boost. it would'nt boost any more that 30psi (even with the pipe off the turbo).
its a brand new -31 they fitted for me.
i have had it looked at by vince @ cr turbos and he could'nt find anything wrong. he did clean a couple of the surfaces so the where 100% flat.
i've tried the turbo again and it still won't boost any more than 30psi.
so does anyone have a t4 turbo with an enlarged wastegate penny to try my actuator to see what boost it will produce on another t4?
i will cover all costs on postage both ways

why not just try a -34 actuator instead ???

i really dont understand this mate it held 2.2 bar all day long on my car with the original actuator on aswell.

maybe the spec of your engine is holding back the boost?think mine holds 32psi

but i have always wondered why a -31 is on mine as well rather then a -34?

Mine has a -31 on it but is still on a safe map only boosting 24psi till i get it live mapped.

just lock the wastegate shut somehow or other.. if it still wont go above 2bar then there its not the actuator...

that must have been a -34 because it feels stronger than the -31 but thats knackered now.

my t4 from vince hold 34psi and rest asure if vince says there is nought wrong with your turbo theres nothing wrong with it

i can drive it the way it is but it has been mapped with the air injectors fully open on a -31, stu said its not the best way to have it.
if i put the -34 on it will boost more and its only been mapped upto 30psi so stu told me it will be unsafe to run more.
i am trying to get in sorted for the next mapping session

so whats the lowest the -34 can be set too,surely it cannot be more the 30 psi.

yeah msd checked it and moved the exhaust cam 1 tooth as it was out

what boost have you seen a -31 produce on a t4 with a hole of preload?
vince did say my -31 opened a little earlier than a garret -31 but should'nt be a problem

so you don't have a garret -31 you have a mickey mouse one then
-31 refers to a genuine garret one only as does -34 the fact that somecompany has chosen to put -31 on their actuator does not make it a garret -31
we only use genuine garret parts
heinz don't make beans for any one else either
without any pneumatic control pressure on the actuator on a genuine t4 turbine housing with the correct size by passport and penny you will see pressures at peak load over 5 bar
we have of late seen quite a few t4's with the wrong size by pass port and waste gate penny

what to you me by (without any pneumatic control pressure on the actuator)?
even with my -34 it won't produce 5 bar or boost.
any suggestions tony whats wrong?
