sounds expensive mate, especially for you to feel it back off. I take it that racing was on a private road lol.

If there was water everywhere check your hoses and all connections etc.. Try and find where the water's come from

over pressuring could be head gasket fault, forcing water out, have a look in daylight

be best to do this in the light-fill your cooling system back up then get a pressure tester and pressure test the system.this will show any leaks ect.

Wouldn't recommend putting up here that you was racing I'd use the term "driving along"

Doesn't sound like a turbo gone for all the coolent to go mate. That sounds like a pipe has split/melted/comeoff/hole in the rad and the water has touched a piping hot engine/turbo and caused the smoke. If it was white smoke then defo what I just said.

If your turbo went, it would have gone BANGG and moreless cut out or you'd be getting thick smoke (A LOT of it). You wouldn't be able to see out the back window due to the oil burning. Check to see if the turbo is leaking oil as well. Bit odd for you to feel it lose power though and still run. unless your engine just over heated due to no coolent

Yup, seriously you would know about it if it was the turbo. I think you just had a stone chip up from doing some "speed" and it made a nice hole in the rad. that cuased water to splash up but you didn't notice the temp increase due to the help of the ice cold wind. Then it just creeped up and backed off. Wait till the morning mate, fill the coolent tank up with antifreeze and water. Then start the car on idel and watch under the bonnet. open the throttle body whilst looking in engine bay and just look for water pissing out. soon as you see it, turn the engine off and find what it is. It could be just clipping a pipe back on. OR a bigger job of replacing a rad. Still though.. not very hard to do. Haynes explains it all step by step if you've never done it before.

It sounds like more than your turbo. I would go with head gasket as well. But I didnt think this would cause the car to "backoff". Unless its a few things that have sh*t themselves.

if it was the turbo's oil feed or return then possibly yes, if it still starts, to it up with coolant and oil than let it idle and have a good luck round under the bonnet, In Daylight

i'd say mate, its blown a hose or headgasket, that would explain the white steam everywhere from the engine bay. don't think its turbo

If your after a new turnip then here's one cheap.

http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/SWEDE-Marian-2...item19b79a93b7

Hope you sort it and it's not expensive, sounds like a HG to me going by loss of water. Have you checked the Oil for signs of Mayo?

Skimming is where a thin layer of the head is machined down to give a flat surface so the head sits neat, perfectly normal practice to have it done when replacing HG.

Any good machining company could do it for you.

wouldn't hurt to get the head checked to see if it's warped mate, better to be safe than sorry, build it all back up with a bent head and boom back to square one.
