My old 270bhp one that was around 800kg was WAY faster than a stage 3 cossie, its not even a close fight!

400bhp in a nova, is roughly a match for a 600bhp escos other than off the line, and even then they dont do too badly, hence there are so many fwd vauxhalls in the 11s up the strip and also well into the 12s up the strip with sub 300bhp!

400bhp in a nova, is generally over 300bhp @ wheels as its quite efficient transmission, so with 800kg and a 100kg of driver and fuel, thats over 330bhp per tonne at the wheels

600bhp escos with 480 @ wheels and 1400kg plus 100kg of driver and fuel is 320 per tonne at the wheels


People who havent been in these silly little cars with big engines often underestimate them!

Well the Nova is actually mine now!

We did a swap of cars as my Corsa had all the bits he wanted on it, and I wasn't bothered about putting my car back on the road.

So the old Nova engine is in bits having headwork a new manifold and some new rods. It will be back down at Karls in the new year at some point in the Corsa, hoping for 500+ this time!

Just putting an XE in the Nova and going to do a few track days in it

Bangs for buck I don't think you can beat vauxhalls.

Just as a sidenote that i thought i'd mention on seeing that - once you've experienced super silly fast, your boundaries are expanded and what previously felt fast to you feels a bit slower after...

I know deep down that my 450bhp Focus won't feel *that* fast to me as i've experienced cars with twice the power and very regularly been expected to work a laptop as efficiently as i would at a desk when i've actually been in the passenger seat of a 500bhp car accelerating hard!

It does spoil you!

Id agree with that, I thought my 150bhp corsa was ok for an everyday quick car, tried some much quicker cars and then it just felt mundane. had to spend a long time driving really slow cars to make it feel quick again

As said, words just don't comprehend how damn fast that bloody car is!!!!! it's just acceleration, acceleration, acceleration!!!!! Teamed with the way Andrew drives it on circuit "over" the curbs and you can feel yourself "landing" whilst he sits there more or less out for a sunday drive and picking his nose!!!

well fastest car i have ever driven ,or been in is my 500+bhp mk2 escort .its done an 11.5 @137mph on my old 360bhp motor & 170mph top end so should be a bit quicker now

My first post on this forum.

The fastest vehicle I've driven was, I think, my 100cc kart. A BIG Rotax gave lots of power (I never did find out exactly how much) in something weighing virtually nothing (apart from the big oaf behind the wheel!). Acceleration was astonishing and revved to bonkers numbers! Top speed was irrelevant as the tracks we raced on had relatively short straights, although we did get a policeman with a speed camera at one event that showed we were doing over 90mph.

as driver my malard green harvey gibbs built 680bhp escort cossie i used my sat nav its stored in the top speed section in the nav stiil today was 181mph and the car was still pulling very hard i just got shite less and lifted of the throtel.. not sure what the full speed of the car would of been , some times i wish i would of had the balls to hold it til it cut out...

i now have a evo 9 gt 451/400 and i do 165/170 in it most weekends just to give me a buzz have to say the evo sits on the road at big speeds beter than the escort..

the fastest iv driven is my old s2 2.1 zvh hit 5th gear limiter and the needle on the speedo was about back at 0 i reackon it was about 160+ was great
rs_grants sti is the fastest iv been i think he hit 6th gear limiter that must bn about 170-175 i think

i no mate i spoke to andy about charlies car away back , my problem is i have went to far with the escort now, i baught all the grp running gear , mag front hubs , widetrack back end , proflex , brakes ect ect gear box diffs . shell all wrc pannels, tank, windows, seats, aim dash, loom, ect ect 3 sets of wheels ect ect, its now with domanick mc neill here in ireland being built..if
