Spacing on numberplates where it shouldn't be
Anyone get any agro for this? Found a private plate I quite like but it'd have to be spaced differently, I'd still get it in standard font etc.
Some people say they have nothing but agro but others say they've had it for years and not been pulled for it. Just wondered on some more personal experiences
Just struggling to find a decent plate that says something in the way it's meant to be displayed for a not so ridiculous price

Spacing isn't usually given much notice round here, only really fiddling with the characters to make them look like other characters, small plates and fancy fonts.
Lots of people I know have moved characters from one block to another and it's been on their cars like that for years.
At the end of the day, it is illegal so you do it at the risk of being asked for ££. Just don't cry like a baby when PC Plod rims you.

If any part of the reg has been spaced diferently it is illegal, you will also will be missing the makers details from the bottom of the plate which also makes it illegal. I wouldnt go there IMO.

i have never had any borther with spacing.
i assume its when you use differant fonts and bolts etc to make your plate read something diferant is when the old bill have a problem.
just dont take the piss and if your reg and be read as easy as a std most coppers wont give you a tug. i have a plate ELV 15*X and a have it spaced ELV15 *X never ever had a tug.

Coppers round here'll do anyone for anything numberplate wise. And there's been DVLA cars parked up looking for things like this. IMO its not worth it for a numberplate, personalised ones normally make you look pretty sad aswell (name ones anyway) so no reason risking it. They can give you points now aswell iirc.

20K+ Super Poster.
I think it also depends on how much the police dislike you, they wanted to give me a ticket for characters 2mm too narrow, the bike cop actually measured them with the std issue 6" steel rule, mind I was being a complete arse at the time.

Privet plate's give you your own recognition and i do not think people with these plate's are sad ect as commented on here,
I have never been pulled and keep a correct reg in the boot just in case and also M.O.T.

A proper private plate is good imo, its the badly spaced and uncovered screws/bad positoning of screws etc that I don't like
I also hate it when I fail a car and then they produce plates from the boot and expect me to fit them

People actually take it for an MOT with it spaced illegally, are they dumb?
I have been offered the private plate as a present but finding one I like is hard enough never mind finding one that says what I want it to say without spacing it illegally.
The one I was looking at what G8 SBO, everyone calls me G, and then Asbo, some may call it chav but I love it So G 8SBO. But it's then persuading my Mum to buy me that plate
Just very little available. I would have a plate that says something funny but I'm on a £500 limit and the funny ones are £2k+. I don't want a car specific plate either as I want to be able to keep it and transfer it to different cars. Why can't I be called Gavin, there's load of Gav plates

Yeah see thats alright for you, but I can't shorten Graham to 3 letters
I would prefer 5 letters because it looks like a proper private plate then, but I'm not too fussed I just like not many letters

Not available!
I'm surprised they let you get away with putting the standard one on, I'd have thought they'd be annoyed you didn't just do it in the first place as you know it's illegal, suppose it depends on the copper.

The Police here are being sad desperate wanks about plates too. They need fonts that their ANPR cameras can read so they can trace everyones movements, and dish out fines for random nothings at a whim.

Ron How about GR455 for yourself?
Stevieturbo: Thing is I can understand where they are coming from with different fonts. If the ANPR can't pick it up, if it gets stolen they won't be able to trace it so more fool the people who have fancy fonts. I personally think anything other than standard looks tosh anyway.
Dan, could do, but wasn't overly fussed on names was just the fact I could have 'G' which is what all my mates call me. As it's a present I am gonna get one otherwise I'd just be leaving it as I can't find anything I like. The hunt continues!

The police know exactly where about 80% of stolen cars end up here, and no doubt who is stealing them. Does that stop it happening ? NO.
So you can bet your life legal plates wont make one bit of difference to car thefts, or the police's recovery rates of stolen cars.

my point was. They do not use ANPR here to pick up stolen cars, they use them to track everyones movements.
There are literally hundreds of ANPR cameras here, outside most police stations, airports, and various other main routes.
They record every vehicle passing. They cannot read all fonts, but do have a good try. Although even on nromal fonts it can sometimes make errors too.
But they are purely for tracking purposes, not to catch stolen cars. Because they've proven that even when they know where stolen cars are, they still wont go near them to make arrests.
They'd sooner slap a fine on you for illegal plates as cars get stole and pensioners get robbed in their homes.
