Default Can't get me crank pulley off :-(

How the fook do you get them off when they are seized on wen't to do my cambelt today, dropped the fan shroud, run a tap down the bolt holes in the pulley, removed the pulley bolt then bolted on the puller, had my father in law in the car with it in gear and his foot on the brake, but it wouldn't budge took all the puller off again then soaked it in plus gas while i changed the auxiliary belt tensioner but it just wasn't having it, it was even slipping the AP 6 paddle clutch!! ! managed to change the belt by taking off the crank sensor and fiddling it through but i really wanna get the pulley off to clean it up and copper slip it up!
any ideas? short of removing the bumper / rad and cooler to get to it but can't see how that would help as i can get onto the puller bolt easily!!

God knows what you are doing wrong but the crank pulleys snap at the drop of a hat when pulling them off!!

Been there done that loads of times.

Remove the radiator and intercooler and do it properly otherwise you will just
waste sh*t loads of time and get frustrated.

Remove the starter motor and put a chucky screwdriver / crowbar in between one of the teeth on the flywheel and start to turn the puller so it wedges into the bellhousing (get someone to hold it in place), then go for it on the puller! The pulley and the crankshaft are an interference fit so they are never easy to take off.

If all else fails i guess you could smash the pulley to pieces and put a new one on there, just hope you dont take the end of the crank with it

Hmmm mine came off by hand with a little bit of persuasion. Looked like it was copper slipped before it went on last time tho. Or should it have been harder to take off

I think that just means the guy who did it before did it properly and put some slip on it. Lucky

Mine came off with a 10 inch cold chisel and a FBH in about 15 min's , then the little pully behind it was stuck as well and I broke my front cover getting that off

Dave.

PS Good luck
