Default RS Turbo starter motor

My starter motor has started no starting

I beleve there is a difference between the turbo starter and other starter motors, is this true? I know the starter off any cvh will bolt on and work but are the internals any different to cope with the heat from the turbo?

This is my second starter to go in 12 months, last time it went i replaced it with a £30 starter from the local car accessory shop. Am i best off goin to ford and paying the extra £££?

Also there is a heat sheild available from ford to cover the starter and solenoid, any one fitted/used one?

Ford price rst starter £71.71+ vat retail is not that bad for genniue parts.

even cheaper with trade discount about 20%

Get a full 1 years warranty so if it breaks they would even fit it for you

If you planning to keep the car i would get a ford one
But you do get what you pay for

there is a small heat sheild for the stater about £18 qiud still avab

I would get the finns codes for you but not back to work untill next Tues

the heat shields are fitted as std afaik, up to you if u get one or not really it'l prob help to some extent,
why not open your starter up, 9 times outa ten if its newish its jus run dry with no grease in it due to the heat.
the terminals are diff depending on what year afaik!

I got a re-con starter exchange for £55 with 1yr waranty.

Cheers people

Been to Ford and got my new starter motor (finns#1008828), heat sheild is coming tomorrow

Just had a look at the starter, attached to it is a piece of paper with a diagram of the starter motor. It also shows a heat sheild with a cross through it, does this mean the heat sheild will not fit or is not needed/recommended?
