How long was it before you went back to work? Also what do you do, as it has a bearing on the outcome..
Just had mine done and it's total agony. Biggest problem's having a torn hamstring after the op and the fixings into the bone give a really wierd sensation when I flex my knee!
Up and about walking without crutches 2 days after the op though!

You can return to an office type job in about 3 weeks... lots of leg in there air boredom for first 2 weeks.
your hamstring isn't torn... there have used a part of it... you will feel weird missing like lumpy bit if you run your hand down the back of your leg

I'm planning on going back to the office side of my job as soon as the wounds have healed up properly.
How long was it before you were back to 'normal' activities?

Snapped it playing rugby mate. Got tackled side on and my knee successfully bent one of the directions that it isn't supposed to! Hurt nearly as much as waking up from the 2 1/2 hour op!

I had mine done on the 18th August, like you i had ACL reconstruction using hamstring graft.
I sold my car and paid to have it done privately and im really glad i did. I walked out of the hospital unaided the day after the operation. I had 5 weeks out of the office, but worked at home. (Physio wanted me to get the ok from the surgeon before driving..i was probably ok to drive at about 4 weeks)
My rehab is going really well and im running pretty well now, started at about 9 weeks with gentle jogging.
Im fortunate that i had no pain in my knee at all, either post op or in the following weeks, the only 'problem' ive had is a tight hamstring and muscle waste on my quads, but thats normal and ive been working hard to sort it.

You've done well there then mate. Couldn't really afford to go private. Had my own private rood though..
The specialist said that Id be in more pain than most due to it being a more complicated than usual. Apparently I had a lot of scar tissue surrounding the joint and they couldn't decide how best to do the operation. Therefore they were probing around in there much more than usual!

Mine was done 11 years ago and rehab was much longer than normal due to badly damage knee.
Been good ever since, atleast when it comes to the ACL but cartilage and meniscus damages makes it very moody.
Only wish my first Doc wouldnt have been so negative towards operation, he talked me out of it and that lead to me injuring it even more.

My surgeon was fantastic and i couldnt be happier with how things have gone so far, my physio says i can play football again in Feb...which will be 6 months post op, i feel like i could start training now, but i'd need to be careful so ill just wait.

Nasty, i have been very lucky...although i also damaged my MCL, but hoping the knee will be stable enough not to need a 2nd op on that.
