Default my sisters focus broken down

she rang and says its gutless, lost power most likelyt a misfire, a light on the das which is an orange cog with an explanation mark in it oh and eml is on.....

any ideas peeps, need some answers quick cause im gonna have to go tow her back

she just called back and said looked like smoke coming from under bonnet and now car has died completly (not on fire though)

That light i think comes on when its seriously overheating. My old 1.6 focus suddenly lost all its coolant, there is a plastic hose connector on the front of the block that split, luckily I saw the guage drifting up and shut it off before any damage was done. Looks like it was too late for your sister though

so the smoke is most likely steam...... she just said there is no coolant left so i guess your right rich. thanks bud luckily she remembered she hass AA so i dont have to go out cause shes 30 miles away although have the perfect towing machine here my old dears 2.5 td pajero

Leave it to the AA. If management light has come on, I suggest something quite serious has happened, overheated and cooked it i guess

I have not looked yet but Hinton Rescue (who the AA sent) said there is absolutly no water or oil left its bone dry, was serviced by a trustworthy mechanic last month and she watched him pour the new oil in so something has gone majorly wrong....anyone know of any 1.6 focus going cheap, also not to up on the th elower spec engine variations, i know its a black top but what type i heard its different to what is in her husbands fiesta zetec s

Nightmare mate.There was some cheap focus.es on auto trader yeasterday but thet had a few miles on.

its all fixed, silly cow never had a drop of water in it so it went into safe mode, filled with coolant ran for 40 mins and is holding preesure fine now
thanks for the advice guys it was worth telling herr she need a new engine just to see the look on her face lmao

thermostat housing at the front of the engine usually cracks. water pumps are also quite common. car should shut itself down before it gets to far though.

you said it had run out of oil and water but you only needed to fill it with water i would have filled it with oil as well
