Default what to look for when buying 1.25 fiesta

other than the usual stuff you look for on a car, are their any items that i need to specifically look for on these?

what sort of service intervals do they need and what about cam belt changes etc?

any advice gratefully received

and what are they worth? 2000 or thereabouts? and were there any facelifted version about?

it's the ones with the indicators on the sides like this one:

rusty sills, wheelarches, dented panels from nobbers jumping on them.

surprisingly i see quite a few with spunk stains on the seats so i always check the interior and if its looking like a bukkake party inside i walk away, walk away, walk awayyyyy.

heater control valves stick on hot or cold.

misfires due to coilpack

rear axle bushes

and big ends can go.

Rust under the door seals, they all seem to rot there.

went to look at it
it's a shed
one of the tyres was flat
another was close to the limit
there was a golf ball sized hole in the windscreen
rust on the passenger side wheel arch
the rubber on the door was frayed
it had 43,000 miles more than it was advertise with
it needed a jump start
it had no oil in the engine showing on he dipstick
and it didn't have any tax, although he was going to supply a years worth with the car but i had to buy it before i took it for a test drive

i wasted my time

sound mint, i have a earlier one done 79k on a s 3dr finesse, starts first time, power steering, factory sunroof, metallic state blue,no bukkake stains or holes on the pale blue cloth upholstery, perfect sills and rear wheel arches,a brand new unused spare tyre,a boot floor you could eat your dinner off and its worth about Ł795.
if you can't get a feesta to start on the key you really shouldn't be in the car game especially when the jobs shit and a eager buyer is a rare thing.

1.25 watch out for worn engines - little ends go one them (listen out for it at 4k eg as your are driving under load,)

cambelt due at 10 yrs or 100k. have seen them go at 50k at less than ten years, and its not cheap to do the kit is Ł70 and not easy to do so labour will be Ł150 - Ł200.

All fiestas suffer rusty rear arches at that age.

Gearboxes also get noisy (listen for it in 1st/2nd).
Clutch slave cylinders can go again not cheap to do.

As said above rear suspension bushes (pain to do).

Great to drive considering its just a crappy fiesta, but be aware they can be relatively expensive to sort out as per above. Rattly old 1.3 cheaper to work on but crap to drive.

i just oiled the link up and sold it to my next viewer who loved it.

i get fed up with fickle fussy weird punters who have no clue and think they can get a brand new car for under a grand .

Try and go for the Ghia. You might be lucky and find a special order Ghia with Air con and Sunroof.

Coil packs die from as little as 10k upwards to 80k, cheap fix though. Door handles can snap pretty easy.

If the cambelt has been changed make sure a new tensioner has been fitted as they are required (these can fail in as little as 40k)

Rust on the rear arches is a problem area, my sisters 1.25 on an X plate with 85k has some minor blistering but nothing to worry about at the time being.

Have you thought about a Focus Dojj?
