dont ever buy a pug, i did..boohoo
i bought a 306 about 3 weeks, wish i never now..
somone at peugeot must be having a fookin laugh, the exhaust is a piss take..
the manifold to front pipe joint is a piss take, i swear ive spent about 20 hours in total now trying to fit the gasket on the round flange part...: wall: the gasket is a metal mesh ring like a bracelet and its 65mm internal diameter, the flange it goes on is about 70mm, it wont fukin go on, im gonna pissin torch this car im that pissed off..
the old gasket i took off fits perfect and is about 70mm across, now ive been to every spares place near me and they only have 65mm ones, and say thats the biggest peugeot do for the car....
fook knows how your meant to get the cunt to fit....
sick of it now, ive only drove it about twice in nearly 3 weeks..
rant over

yeah absolutly everything, fukin sick of it now, spent 6 hours today with my grandad trying to get the cunt on...fukin joke....
its like it needs some kinda expanding tube or something you can put in it and maybe stretch it out...
we managed to get it on a massvie socket set socket, but that wasnt quite big enough to let us slide it off that and onto the car manifold..
never known owt like it, my grandad was like this is unbelievable this....
if anyone knows how to fit this gasket....

if there is 5mm diff in the gaskets how the hell do you expect it to fit, either try another supplier, or go to peugeot dealer and order the gasket from your chassis number. Also things I have also came across on french cars is a metal collar fitted between the gasket and manifold which you have to break off but this was mainly clio's (i work in fast fit)

rest the ring in the pipe then do up the two bolts bit by bit and it will pop the ring over the manifold!!(or snap the ring)!!!!!!!!!!!there a right twat to do but it will go on!!remember LOTS of penatrating oil!!!

i know its 5mm smaller but been told by 2 different parts places that there isnt a bigger one for my car....

sorry didn't want to sound harsh, but for 5mm diff there obviously is other gaskets, so try main dealer, or google c e s exhaust suppliers, thats who we use for oddball stuff thats not in regular catalogues

mate,......It might be me.....But ....why dont you go to an Exhaust fitter/supplier and ask them to fit it for you???????
I often buy my own parts and do just as i said, they dont mind cos if it fails then its my fault,so easy money for them.

its all about the 5 pot
Its called a fibre washer. Have you been to peugeot for one yet? Ive never realy had a problem with one, unless its been physicaly too big or small. Try euro car parts or GSF for parts in future, they usualy come up trumps for most bits.

Don't take this the wrong way but it sounds to me like the car is not the thing at fault, it's you trying to fit the incorrect part to the car!
The old Clio 16v used to have the same kind of gasket ring between the manifold and downpipe, the gasket ring simply pushed onto the manifold by hand with minimal effort.

i'm going to say user error
as have been playing with pugs for a few years and the manifold is piss easy,
the mesh seals perfect as long as you ar e mating them up square, infact my 205 gti6 conv, wasn't quite square but had a very good seal,
the downpipe dont go all the way up, just enough to seal
the way i do it, is feed the bolts down, hold up the exhuast and put one nut on at a time, then push and hold it up and tighten one side, but not super tight, just enough to hold the downpipe up, then tighten the other side,
then tighten them both up bit by bit
thats it

yep would have to ay that its defo the person trying to fit the wrong part not the car to blame!
if possible try to use OE parts or parts from a factors that know what they are on about / ordering and you cant really go far wrong with a pug, granted the build quality isnt great but they are sturdy enough and take a fair amount of abuse and the engines arent too bad (unless you have a 1.4 TU engine which is useless if you want to go on a bypass or long trip lol)
have had a few pugs in the family and the best was actually a 306 XSi 2.0 8v, was great fun to drive and could really play with it if you knew how to! im currently driving round in a 406 2.2 Hdi exec estate and love it, good fuel economy, loads of space to chuck tools and car bits in, will tow well and is fun to drive when you want to push it (for a large derv) and has loads of toys in it also.
