Me and the gf have just booked our holiday for a week away in Egypt - sharma el shiek, marama resort, leaving next saturday!!!

just wondering if anyone has been to Egypt and what was it like for you?

my mother and sister went there, to the pyramids and loved every minute, stuff is cheap as chips out there as well. just watch what you buy though.

Yup, went last year, lovely time, stayed in Sharm as well. Did a day trip to Luxor and day trip to Cairo as well, very tiring but well worth the money and early start. Make sure you have your injections before you go, and prepare yourself, almost guaranteed to get the shits!!!!! If you do dont bother clogging yourself up with Imodium, just go to the chemist over there (normally one in the hotel) and they will give you something that will sort you out within 24hours.

i'd change them up mate to be honest. They'll give you a crazy exchange rate if not!! Most of the markets etc where your more than likely to get stuff from will only take their own currency.

Also worth taking some antisceptic gel to clean your hands with after touching money etc etc....

I love it!

I recon that the primary blame for the (almost guaranteed) dose of diarrhoea, is due to handling the (filthy!) money. If you touch the money, then wash your hands after! Do not eat anything with your bare hands. Hygiene is paramount!

Been twice, and would go again. Went for 2 weeks and done loads of trips no shits. This year 10 days with just some diving trips, had the shits for days, even after getting home. Make sure you haggle whenever buying stuff though.

Been four times to four different parts (Dahab, Sharm, Taba, Marsa Alam), neither of us have been ill as a result either and would definately go again.

Great place, but as I have said before, it's all about the hotel. It's important to pick a good one, otherwise the holiday will be shit IMO.

Yeah, was there some time ago but it was ace. Get on the beach and a bloke comes up to you and asks if you want to go on a quad safari, the answer is HELL YES!! Its only cheap but well worth it. The sea is a amazing blue and clear as day (snorkle is a must) but as said, look out for the shits, it will hit you with out a doubt. Underwater camera is also a good one, you can rent them on the beach as well.

Loads can be done with great weather thrown in. Plus if you want to buy anything, barter with them, you can almost cut them in half if you have the balls.

Been to sharm twice,no shits,stayed at the hilton and the folk there couldnt be nicer.will be going back next year.dont go to the go-karts,they are really crap.quad bikes into the mountains late afternoon is good,loads of snorkelling to be done.watch out for folk taking photos,videos if you do the excursions,they are quite pushy and want you to buy something.the moto x track in the town is good too,maybe quite expensive now as more folk are going to sharm.if you are not wanting to go out of sharm you wont need the visa which costs 10 quid each.

i went for my honeymoon me and the mrs loved it went to the conrad in sharm we got the sh**s a couple of days but we would still go back was gonna go back this year for our anniversry but i aint got enough holidays at work

Been there 3 times with the missus, we both love it, infact we just got back from there last night, had 14 nights at the Regency Plaza in Nabq. For the first time ever while being on holiday i had a dose of the deli belly

Its a fantastic place, and as Christian has already said pick a decent hotel else the holiday will be well spoilt!

Change your money before you get over there, most places take Egyptian pounds but prefer you to spend Euro's or Dollars strangely.

We done 14 dives while we were there this time and had a great time, the afternoon temperature peaked at 48 degrees C on Sunday

ive been to taba and loved it was the bollox, only thing is the locals love trying to chat your birds up, dont let it get to you because i think its just friendly banter

see a few people getting annoyed but jus brush it off, other than that i was shitting through the eye off a needle
