No, wild rabbits are a constant headache for farmers and most consider them vermin. None are too cute to feed to my ferrets! Except maybe young uns.......they can wait until they've more meat on them!
I avoided running one over the other night and i honestly stopped and thought shit i could of had that for the ferrets!!!!

they dont get up to much mate there verry lazy animals all they do is eat and bask thats it realy they dont need much space cos they cant be arsed to go any where any way stuff like birds need to be able to fly thats why i have had birds of prey cos you can take them out and fly them everyday

I lol'd at this!!
Could you not see it was meant tongue in cheek! Some people take stuff Waaaaaayyyyy too seriously!
If you look in the pets thread you can see that i keep rabbits
Domestic breeds of rabbits are different to wild rabbits, we all know how fast they breed. A full colony of rabbits can destroy crops and can spread/carry diseases! I know a lot of local farmers and as i said they consider them vermin.

If they consider them vermin and dont want them to 'destroy their crops', then they should take steps to keep them out. If they cant be arsed, then they have to accept the consequences of nature. Maybe this is too hard for the simpletons ('farmers who consider them vermin') to understand.

Not a dig at you but you should read up on the damage done to australia when a colony of rabbits was introduced for shooting. I'm looking for a link right now but basically 24 rabbits bred into millions within 50 yrs and stripped the vegetation bare on the open plains. They moved up the country at a rate of 50 miles a year and there is area's of what is now proper Desert because of this.
They are vermin, no doubt about that

As regards farmers though, if they are that much of a problem, it cant be that hard to keep them away from their crops surely?

They're unbelievable breeders. There was a poison invented and used on the Oz rabbits, I think in the 50's, it killed 999 of every thousand rabbits 99.9% of them, the population came back and is as big now as it was when the poison was used
I don't know how you'd stop the feckers gettin into a field

Even if people were on the land every weekend and took away a good brace the only way to really keep them under control is a cull every now and then. You might think this is cruel but at the rate they can reproduce its the only way.
You've expressed a pretty strong opinion on something i'm not sure you entirely understand without being too personal i would hazard a guess that you don't live in the country? And you are presumably against many country pursuits that are deemed "cruel". I'm not about to hijack a thread about it but some people need to experience these country pursuits to understand how important they are in rural life.

Had a day handling large birds a while ago (kinda similar to a night out in Birmingham but with slightly more feathers ) - very good fun and rewarding with how intelligent they are!
Still bloody scary looking at those claws though lol
