Slightly off topic

Do you get low flying apaches where you are?

We visiting the missus grandparents (in Garvestone) a few weeks ago and one flew over must of been only about 20ft above the house, awesome site.

Wooo thats a right mess ... Wonder why they did a full engine test while they where bolted to the plane?

Wonder what engine's? RR Trent 800 - 900's

The writing on the side does look a little like Jihad

The worrying thing is that they might well strip all that back and make it good and sell it onto another airline, and one day that repair will cause an accident............

Yes, I have a photo somewhere of 3 Apache's going over my house. I'd say they were about 100ft, but still VERY awesome.

Extremely low aircraft are always coming over our work though.

My sister reckons she had the Euro Fighter go over her when she was driving, so low that everything went dark.

You have to do full engines runs when they are installed, and anytime you change components, or make any adjustments... The last thing you want is to be smashing down the runway, only to find you are not making full power . Ground running is a very common thing, we do it almost every day. Totally safe if you know what you are doing.

The Rolls-Royce Trent 556 engines, yielding 53,000lb to 56,000lb thrust, give fuel efficiency with low emissions. Advantages of quad-engine performance include reduction in maintenance costs by about 15% because four small engines are cheaper to maintain than two large engines, less thrust requirement for take-off, improved performance from hot and high airports and no second segment climb limitation.

You get them quite alot. When we were putting an extension on a house out near wymondham just under 2 years ago we used to see them out training most days. Also saw one fly across the road when I was driving past wymondham police station that was really low, must have only been 15ft or something above the telegraph poles, nearly crashed looking at it

Think the engines were CFM56s

As Will said really, Engine Ground Runs are very common and nothing to worry about, its Pressure Runs that I hate doing

I read the accident report at work a few weeks back, the LAE doing the runs made a few silly mistakes, and as per usual they all add up (Classic swiss-cheese human factors stuff lol)
